Day of Wedding Coordinator?

Have any of you ladies used/or are planning on using a day of coordinator? My venue doesn't provide one so I'm considering hiring one to make the day go smoothly so my friends/family aren't having to take care of details.

Any ideas on costs? Any recommendations of coordinators in Jacksonville?

I have checked and received rate quotes from $500 to $1100. Some start as early as a month before so the name Day of means different things to different planners.

I have not decided if I am going to hire one or not. It was a little more then I expected of course they do quite a bit more then I expected as well. There was a huge difference between each person I spoke with as to what they include in their services.

I realized there is one thing said that really pished me off. When they say I'll do as litttle or as much as you want. WT heck, how do I know what I want you are the pro!!! At least tell me what's possible or give me a list to chose from. Part of my reasoning to hiring one is so I don't miss something I may not know about. Does the Dr. ask you what tests to run when you are sick???

I originally wanted just a day of coordinator to make sure everything ran smoothly. But... I just found out that my wedding coordinator will not be able to have as much of a role as we had originally planned for due to health reasons so... I will probably need someone for the last month. Yikes! I emailed one today and will probably email one more to get a feel for what to expect. There is no way I want someone in my family having to scurry around and worry about details on a day they should just be relaxing.

I have heard that Christina is awesome. I am meeting with Southern Charm Events, Tanya. I will post tomorrow with an update. I think Tanya was a little cheaper than Christina.

Thanks ladies! From what I've found so far, it's more expensive than I anticipated.  The fiance and I decided to work out a day-of timeline to figure out what all we need help with before making any appointments.

I agree with the pp who posted that there is a large price range for many of the different coordinators in the Jax/St. Aug area.  I have phone interviews with about 4 different DOCs before I decided to go with Cassandra of Flaire Weddings and Events. I really liked working with her, she was always prompt in returning my emails and calls, and was really there for me on the day of the wedding. I recommend that you give her a call as well.

For the record, Christina from Christina Kreations stopped returning my calls after I spoke with her a few times. She told me she would send me a contract and then I never heard from her again. Lots of people on here seem to like her, but I thought that I would share my experiance as well. Maybe it was a fluke?

I met with Tanya from Southern Charm Events last night and LOVED her. She was reasonably priced for all that you get. For Day of its $750 but that means she is available from when you sign the contract to the wedding for little odds and ends. She also gives you her 40% discount on invitations. Anyway, I thought it was a great deal and I think she is wonderful.

I am using Christina Kopecki from Christina Kreations. She has been great to offer suggestions and she is available whenever I have called her. She is very detailed which is exactly what I want. Also she has helped me save money by her ideas and she knows vendors who like working with her so they have provided me great prices. I would recommend her.
