Wedding Day (of the week)

I was wondering if any brides have had or know someone who has had their wedding on a Friday, either evening or afternoon, or a Sunday, the same times. I ask because my FI and I are still trying to decide on the wedding date. Our tentative date right now is Sunday, February 24, 2013. Our main concern is comfort and convenience for our guests, especially since the people from his side are coming in from out of town whereas the people from my side are already live in town, town being Jacksonville. Or we can have it in Gainesville but we still need a day that would be best and most convenient for everyone. Thoughts, please?

I am getting married on a Monday. I have never heard of it before but Weekend weddings (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) are normally what everyone goes for.

I was married on a Sunday evening (in Gainesville) but it was Memorial weekend so it was pretty convenient for our guests.  We did this for two reasons.  1. I was in nursing school so I had to make sure there was a day before and a day after the wedding so I didn't miss school because we live in Cali and had to fly out for the wedding weekend, and 2. having your wedding on another day besides Saturday, you don't usually have the minimum requirements (guests, food, alcohol) so it was less expensive.

We just made sure to send our STDs about 7 months before the wedding so our guests could make their travel accommodations or deal with any standing Memorial weekend plans.

I have been to a couple of Friday weddings and a few Sunday weddings.  I honestly think they are more common now a days.  Like pp said, I would maybe just sent out Save the Dates a bit in advance so people are able to plan for it. Congrats!

I got married recently on a Sunday, May 22nd. My cousin got married on a Sunday evening aout five years ago so that side of the family had heard of it before :) Our out of town guests flew in Saturday morning and left Monday morning rather than coming in Friday and leaving Sunday. Things wrapped up at 8:30 pm so our in town guests weren't kept out too late. We got the save the dates out 10 months ahead of time so everyone knew!

We went to a Friday evening wedding just this past Friday. It was great! They gave everyone plenty of notice so they could arrange their schedules. The ceremony was at 7:30 outdoors by the water ending just before sunset. they didn't do photos between ceremony & reception. So there was no gap in time. They just did a cocktail party with a ton of amazing appetizers. Then dancing until 11pm.

We were locals & for us it was nice that it didn't cut into our weekend plans! She also saved some money not doing it on a Saturday. The venue, rentals & caterer were cheaper. The rest was the same. So not everyone discounts. The photographer explained to her that they provide the same service on a Tuesday as they would on a Saturday. Makes sense, but worth asking.

My wedding is on a Sunday evening, we too sent out STD about 7 months before hand. All of our guests will be out of towners.

I'm getting married on a Friday evening. At first I was disappointed about not having the traditional/popular Saturday affair, but now I am so excited! Not only am I saving money by having the wedding on an "off" day, I get to spend more time with my out of town guests on Saturday and Sunday. Alot of my family from up north is making a long vacation of it! Plus I've heard that in some countries, Saturday is the unluckiest day to get married. Yay for us "off day" brides!
