Attractions and Restaurants in the Phoenix area

Hey Knotties!

I am updating my wedding website, and I was looking for some good recommendations to give my OOT guests.  What are you recommending?

P.S. Thanks to SMS for giving me the idea!  My poor guests would be without a guide ahaha!

Rustler's Rooste is always popular with my family.

We are doing this as well because most of my guests are from OOT.  I am using categories for my website recommendations.  I had to check out the popular travel websites for ideas.  Here are what some of my headings look like.  Also, as I remember places I want to add, I just jot them down and add as I update my site.

    Area Shopping
(listed malls and shopping b/c my family LOVES to shop!)

    Area Restaurants
(listed some hidden gems like La Grande Orange and more of my favs)

    Places to Pamper
(listed some higher end spas but also some nail and hair salons and of course my budget friendly fav Massage Envy)

    For the Kids
(listed the Zoo, the RR park in Scottsdale, Science Center and more)

    Golfing
(Again, a must for my family.  Just listed courses of all price ranges, public and private)

    Night Life
(This was hard for me but I found some bars on trip advisor sites)

    Places Just Beyond PHX
(I listed San Diego, Vegas, Sedona and the Grand Canyon for those guests that have more than a few days and want to see the West Coast!)

I'm assuming you know which I recommend :) but if you want me to repost I would be happy to do so.

Glad I could offer some inspiration too :)

I did something similar on my guest site (even though most of the OOT guests I had planned on coming are not now).  you can check it out www.theknot.com/ourwedding/BethFerguson&MattFisk
Mostly places to shop and some activities to do...reading this now, the beauty salons and spas is a good idea :)

Maybe I can repay you for all your great advice. I'm great with restaurants. (I'm a food snob addicted to food network who loves to cook and eat out.) In what part of town will your guests be staying? I know most people won't want to travel far. There are some really cool things around here. I'm also a teacher so I'm good with field trip approved kid stuff.

P.S. If you click on this "app" on weddingwire's build your own web site thing, the attractions listed are ridiculous and include tattoo parlors, which I'm guessing you aren't interested in... Let me know what part of town and hopefully I can give some good ideas!

The wedding is in Gilbert, but I have suggested my guests find good deals on the online booking sites.  So, I imagine guests will be all over the east side.  I would love any recs!

    Thanks ladies for your help!

Ahhh... Gilbert. The old down town Gilbert has some awesome places: Liberty Market is fabulous to eat, so is Lulu's taco's, Joe's Barbeque; The Farmhouse is awesome for brunch. This is all on Gilbert Rd. between Guadalupe and Elliot. Just north of Elliot, there is a little complex with The Brownie Connection and some other little shops. The main stretch has an art gallery, an antique shop, etc. On Stapley and the US60 (very close to Gilbert's downtown), there is a huge complex with a lot of chain restaurants and a movie theater.

Just east of Gilbert, in Apache Junction are the Superstition Mountains. They are gorgeous for hiking if it's the right time of year! Another place to recommend might be Tempe Marketplace, which is a large complex with a Dave n' Busters (gaming place in case you aren't familiar) and a ton of stores and restaurants. Fancy food: Maria Maria (owned by Carlos Santana), The Keg (a steakhouse) and less fancy: an Irish pub and a fish taco place, California Pizza Kitchen, Lucille's Barbeque, etc.

I also recommend the Phoenix Zoo and the Desert Botanical Garden. Mill Avenue in downtown Tempe is popular. Go to Rula Bula (an Irish restaurant/pub)!

I hope that helps. If you find out where people are staying and want closer stuff, let me know! :)

Wow! Thanks ladies! I think I'm going to have to try some of these places when I'm in town next weekend!
