If you are doing your own makeup...

What are some tips or suggestions you have?  What make-up brand(s) are you using?  Anything in particular that you plan on using to help your make-up stay on and stay fresh all day?

Thanks!

I did my own, although it wasn't my original plan.  After a disastrous trial at the salon where we got our hair done, I called Jasmine at Bobbi Brown at Nordstrom (I had met her at an event a few months prior), and she referred me to Iris at the Giorgio Armani counter there.

Iris helped me find colors that were right for my face and professional photography (she also is a photographer so she knows what works for lighting, etc.).  She was wonderful and gave me her full attention, which was exactly what I needed after The Trial From Hell That Made Me Look Like A Clown Raccoon.  And she let me come back for another session where I could practice in front of her.  I bought a boatload of makeup for more than I would have spent on someone coming to do my face, but a) it was less stressful having to meet someone else day of and b) I get to keep all of the product, which works for my everyday and going out make up as well.  And since I was doing my own makeup, I couldn't complain about how I looked.  I was pretty happy with the result.

That said, I would suggest you do something similar.  It will give you peace of mind to have a professional teach you what to do.  While I bought an obscene amount of stuff, I also hadn't bought make up in a long time.  Bare minimum you'll need to buy a foundation, powder, concealer/corrector, eye shadow, blush and lip color.  You'll carry the powder, lipstick and lip liner with you on your wedding day for freshening up.

    Good luck!

I have heard (and now use) Smashbox products. I asked around for makeup that photographs well. This stuff is made for HD video and photos so it is pretty good. I like it a lot I have to say and notice that is really does look nice. I think it also makes it look like you aren't wearing a lot of makeup, which is nice. I bought the primer though, don't waste your money the bottle doesn't work and you can't get the product out. Everything else is great though. HTH!

I know I'm kind of late on this, but I did my own make-up.  I used SmashBox Photo finish as a primer (bought it at Sephora) and used all my regular make-up and then used Model in a Bottle (can be purchased onlie only I believe) for my finishing spray.  My make-up lasted all day, looked flawless and I never reapplied.

Also as a tip, I was told you do not want to use a mineral powder as it does not photograph well.
