NWR: Frontera Grill

I'm going there tonight for a friend's birthday. I am super excited because I love Rick Bayless (yay Top Chef Master!), the Frontera Express at Macy's was great, and I love traditional Mexican food. Has anyone been there? What do you recommend?

OMG everything.  Haha.  You really can't go wrong...everything is awesome.  My favorite tacos are the pork ones - I love that it has bacon and pineapple in it.  You definitely gotta get that pecan chocolate pie for dessert!

Rick Bayless is awesome. He seems like such a great guy. I had a crush on him all throughout Top Chef Masters. The trio of ceviches is really good for an appetizer. I got a really good adobo pork dish that I don't see on the menu anymore. I guess it changes seasonally. I remember everyone saying their dishes were pretty spicy (mine included) so, just a word of caution. And I think I tried 3 or 4 different drinks and they were all amazing, especially the "shakira." Jealous :(

I haven't gone yet. The concensus among my frineds who have is that it's good but not exceptional (relative to their price and reputation). Given that, I've been stalling.

Judging by what everyone else has to say on here, though, maybe I should quit stalling and try it out myself!!

I loved Frontera Grill and Tompolobampo but it was quite a while ago that I was at either so I don't remember anything in particular that I recommend. Have a great time!

Ooh! I would actually love to hear more opinions on this! FI and I are looking for a restaurant to hold our post-elopement dinner and Frontera Grill is on the list....but neither of us has been there...we just love Rick Bayless. Their private room can only hold 45 people though, and we were planning on inviting around 60, so I want to know if the food is worth the price and worthy of a post-wedding dinner!
