can't see pics until 60 days after album is ordered?

We got married (july 18th ) and we recently when to view our pics.  The photographer told us that we'd get all the pictures on a disc when we met with him before our wedding day.  when we went to view our pics, he told us we don't have access to the pictures until 60 days after we select our album pics(we ordered the album before the ceremony). We have paid in full.  We wanted to give pics out for Xmas, etc.  I am just wondering, before I make a big deal about it, if anyone else has had this experience?  is this normal?  Obviously he wants people to order the pictures from him.....TIA!!!!

We did not have this problem but fall back on your contract to support what he told you.  When does the contract say the pictures will be available?

this was common with some of the larger studios when i was looking. they had weird stipulations in the contract where you had to pay extra to get the photos before the holding time, or had to order prints through them and meet minimums.look at your contract and see if it requires you to even buy an album from them. you should still be able to see the pictures because they style of the pictures might influence the type of album you pick.

Definitely recheck your contract..there should have been a specification in there about when you will receive prints. I have heard this is very very common. But if you are worried about getting your pictures by Christmas, maybe your photographer will let you pay extra to order your pictures ahead of time..sadly sometimes $$ can get you anywhere.
