When to Hotel Block?

My wedding is Aug. 7 2010 and we are sending out STD's in January (after the Christmas mail rush). My question is: when is a good time to reserve the hotel block? We're doing a hotel block at the hotel where the ceremony/ reception will be held. Should I have the hotel block info available on our website by the time the STD's go out?

    If you are sharing a venue, I would highly suggest getting your rooms blocked ASAP. Sorry...by sharing a venue, I mean if your wedding isn't the only one going on that evening. My wedding is June 18, 2010 and we have blocks at 3 different hotels. Good Luck!

    We booked the hotel block right after we booked the church and reception hall.  We wanted to get it done and out of the way.  And we also wanted to be safe as we will have a lot of out-of-town guests.

    Yes, have the hotel block info available on your website by the time you send STDs.
