NWR: What is "Smart Casual?"

FI & I are going downtown today for some cake tastings. Afterward, I have a reservation at Table 52 for his birthday. Open Table lists the dress code as "Smart Casual." Both of us were planning on wearing some "nicer" jeans and sweaters. Do you think that will work? I always worry about dress code but it seems that, no matter what the code is where we go, we always see people in jeans. Thanks!

Smart casual is usually khakis and polo or botton down for men, but you are right, it seems everyone wears jeans these days! i have bever been to table 52, but if you are wearing jeans, just make sure your top is nice...

Never heard of "smart casual."  I guess I'd just wear glasses :)

I always thought smart casual as a little less dressy than work.  Wide leg pants with a white shirt and fitted sweater or something like that.  Jeans for evening, I always just wear my dark wash ones.
