Hi:

We find ourselves in need of a photographer. Our first choices are now all gone

Many photographers have packages beyond our needs (and budget). We're having a small wedding with no bridesmaids/groomsman. Our setting is under the el and very urban, so we're looking for more an indpendent photographer that can work with a hip, cool vibe. Both the ceremony and reception are at the same location - so we don't need a large amount of time either.

Any recommendations?

Check out Lorenzo DeGregorio.  Our wedding styles sound similar.  Our difference is we do want to have him for a bit so we can take some fun shots around the city.  We are doing his "tall" package which is 7 hours, you get all your photos on disk and they  are edited, and you have complete copyright.  Also they will be posted online for order.  He is a photojournalist by trade who also does weddings.  I love his pics and feel fortunate we found him!

my friend used marciatumminaro.com  and I thought the photos were so amazing.  Plus they had digital proofs of their pictures within 24 to 48 hours from the wedding.

Brian Morrison is pretty affordable and was an absolute joy to work with on my wedding day. I don't have my photos back yet (he's going to mail them so they arrive when we return from our honeymoon) so I can't speak to that, but we loved his portfolio.

for ours, we used Heather Parker. I don't think she was that cheap but we are glad we got a nice set of photos because we probably wouldn't remember all the little things from our wedding day. There are a lot of budget photographers but from when I was doing research, most of the ones I contacted charged for the time either for the day or hourly and the size of the wedding or bridal party had no influence on the pricing. Have you looked into contacting some of the bigger studios like Fred Fox? Those are usually discounted.

Tao Zhang...he took our engagement photos at the Botanical Gardens. We loved him so much, we just took him to Mexico with us for our November wedding! He's very serious about his work and therefore only does about 10-12 weddings per year. Check out his site: www.lensworkblog.com. Go to the wedding section on the left hand side. He's very flexible and works to accomodate your needs!

Tasha Schalk of www.redwallphotography.com!  She has several different packages, is really sweet and fun, and she started off doing concert photography so she's used to different settings.  She did a great job with our wedding in June.
