I went to one at Sanibel Island in FL and it was amazing. But there's a Destination Weddings board under Wedding Theme Boards - they'd probably be more helpful! Most destination weddings I've been invited to were in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

I went to one in Colorado (Beaver Creek) in September. It was gorgeous!

Our bride and groom Suzie + Jeff came to us looking for a Chicago photographer for their Destination Wedding in Naples Florida.  Their resort and the beachfront wedding was amazingly beautiful!  S+J are from Naperville and we shot their engagement photos here, then traveled with them down to Florida.

Here's a direct link to take a peek at their Florida wedding on our photo blog:

( p.s. Keywest is also amazing!  We stayed in FL a few extra days and drove to the Keys from Naples.  It's a beautiful place, also great for a wedding. )

we are getting married back "home" in hawaii. i think any of the islands (hawaiian) or key west is good, as well as puerto rico. you won't have to deal with passport or customs stuff nor will your family and friends. we are getting married back home where my folks live because it is just about a destination wedding but I think for us its a bit easier. there is the DW board on here as well as http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/
i think on there, they have a planner a lot of people are using that is only something like $50 bucks and they help guide you with staying in your budget for far away plaes. i am not using them but i think they are actually pretty decent as a lot of the ladies on there give them high marks. we are using a local photographer from here in chicago because she has family on oahu and kauai so has been more than helpful with recommendations for us.

The Dominican Republic is VERY popular on the destinaion weddings board because requirements aren't bad and it's very affordable.  We chose Savannah, Ga because we LOVE it there and didn't want our guests to worry about international travel.  HTH!

I too looked into Key West.  It depends on what you're looking for, but I didn't want the "typical" formal wedding... I researched Key West and around the Gulf coast of Florida and soon realized it was way cheaper to get married in Mexico... For the same price I was able to get all inclusive for everyone and a shuttle, whereas in Florida people would have had to rent and car and have money for food and all that.  We didn't want to be in Mexico more than 4 nights, so we are just getting "married" at the courthouse in the U.S. before we leave and we'll have a symbolic wedding in Mexico.. (no one will know the difference)

I guess it depends on your budget, but I'd email the girls in the Florida boards, they were pretty helpful to me, and a lot of girls are doing destinations from Chicago area there...

    Good luck

key west is beautiful! but remember it is a small island so depending on how big you want to have it will come into play. also its not the cheapest place..but again beautiful! we just came back from a friends wedding in captiva..it was fantastic. we ourselves have picked jamaica to get married..april 2011. also you dont want to be in key wet in october, cause it is there fantasy fest..very populated and prices jump..good luck!
