Letter about Eva's Bridal

I recieved a letter about Eva's Bridal. The letter said the store could not afford the dresses and was going bankrupt. It also said Brides were not recieveing their dresses.

The letter was anynomyous. Does anyone know anything about this?  How accurate it is?

It is rumored that this letter is sent by a larger bridal shop mega store. I won't reveal the name since I am the mod, but I'm sure the other ladies know what shop is the guilty party.

I received a letter like that when I was dress shopping too. Nothing in that letter has come to fruition that I know of. The claims contained in the letter are unfounded.

I would toss the letter and continue on shopping. We can provide many bridal shop recommendations and those to stay away from. However, please understand that these are opinions. =)

I'll say it.....it's House of Brides!  I know a Bride that went around and purposely spelled her name differently when giving her information to different bridal shops and she got that letter and was able to figure out who sent it by how she spelled her name on the registration form.

Thanks everyone. I will reconsider where I will get my dress from if a store will go that low to gain sales. :)

Also, to clarify, I purchased mine at Eva's Bridal in Oak Lawn. There are two other stores (in Orland Park and one on North Harlem in Chicago)  that I don't believe are affiliated w/the Eva's in Oak Lawn.

House of Brides sends this letter to brides whose email addresses they buy and/or those who plug their information into the stores' computer "sign in" system when they visit HOB stores.  I am confident in saying this is more than a rumor-- I entered my name with a deliberate and odd misspelling in an attempt to track whether or not they sold my information-- the misspelling was included on this libelous letter when I received it.

The tactic is shameful-- a clear effort to win customers through fear and misinformation rather than quality customer service.  The latter of which, based on my own experience, they have none of.

    I wouldn't recommend the Chicago/North Harlem store.

    Thats terrible!

I shopped for my dress at Evas in Oak Lawn and thought they were great.  The obviously were not going out of business as they still had a ton of dresses in the store and were actively trying to sell me a dress.  (though I will admit, they really didnt do anything for me, no coming off the price or throwing any extras in)

I ended up going with the House of Brides in Schaumburg, who gave me a good deal on a package.  I am almost ashamed to admit that now that I know what kinda stuff they pull!

I have heard several places on line about letter like this going around for years. I went to HOB in Naperville looking for a dress and don't think that I would ever tell a friend to go there.
The staff was NOT helpful and the consultant was less than attentive and NOT helpful. Apparently I was interupting her dinner, even thought I had an appointment, and had to go find her several times.
