CHICAGO MART PLAZA: HOLIDAY INN

Hi all,
So i went to go see the ballroom at the holiday inn at chicago mart plaza downtown (the one with the great river view). I really like and is much more affordable then the W lakeshore. Has anyone been to a wedding there? How was the food, drink, and ambiance?

Thanks!

We're having our wedding there next March.  So far we've really enjoyed working with Barbara, she's a great resource.
I haven't been to a wedding there, but my dad went to a seminar there (prior to us choosing that venue) and commented to my mom how great the food was.  He doesn't often comment on food so it must have been especially good if he liked it.  :)

Thats good to hear!! Thanks! Barbara was the one to show us around too. She's really nice.  Any advice from your planning experience there so far?

I was at a wedding there about 7 years ago. I remember really liking the place and having a lot of fun. [ I don't quite remember the food - but that doesn't mean anything bad.] I never would have thought it was a more 'affordable' venue in Chicago for downtown - it looked super fancy to me!

We picked the venue in January adn we're not getting married until next March, so we haven't had too much venue-planning stuff since we signed the contract.  One tip (that I think Barbara shared with us) is to set your minimum as low as possible in the contract b/c you can always upgrade later.  Also, ask Barbara for her list of recommended vendors, its a good resource.

I"m a bit late but a friend did her wedding here two years ago.  It was lovely.  The food was nice, the view amazing and the space was very well laid out for a less formal wedding.  The only thing to be careful of is the sunset.  It can get a little bright for your guests and you'll have to fight the photographer for blinds up or down as he/she tries to get the perfect shot.

my wedding is there in June. We had our tasting and the food was really good! The renovations they did are amazing the wolf room and the hotel looks really amazing. Overall they have been easy to work with and the prices are much better than most in the city.
