On location hair- Downtown Chicago.. HELP!!!

For the past year and a half I have had a stylist booked for on location hair, and then last week she decided spur of the moment to move to Italy!  Now, I have 3 weeks until my wedding date on a Friday (10.8.10).  I'm looking for someone to come onsite, Downtown Chicago, and do wedding hair for about 9 adults and 3 kids.  The kicker is, I told the Bridesmaids it would be $35 for an updo, and 20$ for the children because that's what my Stylist had quoted me.... HELP!!! Does anyone know someone who would do hair for that price?

you may be able to negoiate some prices down if you explain your situation but probably not down to the price you were quoted.
that sucks about your vendor too! please say you got your deposit back (if you paid one)!

I just found Sonia Roselli and on her site it says rates start at 175 and 75. I don't know if that is for hair or makeup? I have never spoken to and let me be the first to say I have never used them but they are on my list of people to call when the time comes.

MrsPaps...I wasn't trying to not be nice.  My niece spent $125 + tip for her updo.  I was just being realistic.  If she can find someone for those prices, I'm really happy for her.

I agree with PP--I was going to put my hair/makeup vendor down but then when I read through the post, I  know they won't be able to swing those rates. I would look for a short time to try to match those prices but if you can't find anything don't be afraid to let the bridesmaids know the situation. It's not your fault!
I do remember that kthame used a hair (and makeup) person for her BMs that was different then Sonia R. (who she used herself). I think that the person's name was Holly Kasprisin (she's on facebook) and her email is hollykasprisin@comcast.net and I think she did it for cheaper then what may be normal for the area.
    HTH!

I would contact the Aveda Institute located in Lakeview. They have a lot of really talented hair dressers that might be able to come onsite for you. Since they are still in "training" I would imagine their prices not being very high or you might even speak with their trainers to see if they could do it for you. I hope this helps Laughing

Thank you everyone for you help... I'm flexible on pricing, but ideally I would like to stay as close to that number as possible.  In the end, QUALITY is number 1!!!

I just had my trial done with Holly Kasprisin and she is wonderful.  Her rates are higher than what you were originally planning on spending, but I would give her a call and explain your situation.  If she's not available she might know of some contacts who are.  Also let your bridesmaids know what happened and let them decide if they want to find their own stylist or go with the same one you are using.  Since the price might now be out of reach for some in your party, be flexible about who they use and how their hair and makeup look.  I know you might be disappointed in having to let go of some of what you had planned, but don't stress and let it ruin your day.  Sometimes there's not much you can do in a situation like this other than roll with it.
