Vendor Reviews - 9/3/11 Wedding - Part 3 - Cake/DJ/Uplighting/Photo & Video

Cake: Domino’s Pastries – Chicago –  A - http://www.dominospastries.com/My Matron of Honor used Domino's for her wedding & I pretty much knew at that point that I wanted to use them as well.

I had zero issue with responsiveness either on the phone or by email. If I had a question or request, it was handled almost immediately.

Our tasting was amazing...they had a number of samples to choose from and each one of them was wonderful. They were so affordable and the cake was both beautiful and delicious! Guests were eating gobs of cake at the end of the night, they couldn't even wait to get it home! One guest told me he "wasn't a cake guy" but was already on his 3rd piece and loving it! So glad we went with Domino's!
DJ: Windy City Mix – Elmwood Park – A- Johnny - www.windycitymix.com/">www.windycitymix.comThere are not enough words to describe how happy I was with Windy City Mix, owner Rodrigo, and DJ Johnny!

We knew from our first meeting with them that we wanted to book. They were very laidback, easy to click with, and were really listening to us when we talked about the vision we had for our reception. I told them pretty early on that the music was the most important thing to me and Johnny did NOT disappoint! My dance floor was packed the entire night and I was getting compliments from every guest about Johnny and what a blast they were having. It was everything I hoped for and more! The only reason for the minus is that there were a bunch of songs on the must-play list that didn’t get played.

I would not hesitate to recommend Windy City Mix to any bride looking for someone to get her party going! Don't let the incredibly reasonable price fool you, you get more than you pay for - MUCH more! Price, service, and performance were second to none.
Uplighting: Lava Event Lighting – A++ - www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Lava-Event-Lighting/173811115971825?sk=wall">http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Lava-Event-Lighting/173811115971825?sk=wallIf there was an “extra” I wanted, it was uplighting. I never thought we’d be able to squeeze it into our budget, then Jim Faciana & Lava Lighting came along. Jim & his brother Dean do lighting at lots of major events & venues so they know their stuff! They worked with us to get us more than we could’ve possibly dreamed of for our reception. It totally changed the look and feel of the room. And as with most of my vendors, I was lucky enough to get to know Jim and he is true quality and integrity. He was outstanding! He would be worth so much more than we paid, people are still talking about his work. I was blown away!Photo/Photobooth/Video: Metropolitan Imageworks – Rachael Michael/Barb Noverini/Joe Hoh – A++ pending final productYes, they were THAT amazing that they get A++ before I even see the finished product! I knew that this was the photog I wanted if I ever got married. Rachael isn’t only an amazing talent, but she’s the life of the party. She brings out the personality of even the most stuff people – believe me, we had em! LOL! She has the most creative eye and could create moments where no one else would see them. She is fast, too. We got bridal party and family pictures for a 16 person bridal party and large families done within a half hour – probably closer to 20 min. She is just that organized and good at what she does.Barb was Rachael’s second set of eyes on the day of – she was made to do this. She’s got the right attitude & personality to put even the most nervous bride at ease. And she hung back at the reception to get our photobooth set up – it was a HUGE hit!Joe is hands down the most unobstrusive videographer I’ve seen in action at a wedding. He was there, but so much of a pro that no one noticed him in their faces. I know he got all the footage I wanted because when I scanned the crowd for him, he was indeed there and making it happen. Rach was able to get a slide show of pics prepared to show at the reception and guests were in awe of her work. She stayed up that night to send me “preview” pics in the middle of the night. She is the epitome of dedicated and she loves what she does – it’s so obvious in her work. There are not enough words for me to describe how thrilled I was with Metropolitan Imageworks – book them sooner rather than later!
