My favorites are Hotel Blake (not Drake), W City Center, and the Hilton on the Mile. They all have the most comfortable beds I have ever slept it, and to me that's very important :) Worst bed: the Congress. It has an old Chicago feel to it that almost makes it feel haunted (in a very cool way) but the beds were just too uncomfortable for me. But other than that, it's in a great location and you can almost picture what it looked like 80 years ago. Have fun, I love this city!

Check out Groupon/Living Social/Tippr/You Swoop for hotel deals! My favorites are: Hard Rock Hotel, Swisshotel, James Hotel. Is there are particular area you want to be near?

FI and I have enjoyed Club Quarters when we want to stay downtown. The rates are very good and its pretty easy to find a group that participates in it (the university we went to participates). Just call them up and they will look for a group that you are affiliated with. Just a warning- the locations are great but the rooms are very small.

Otherwise ditto PP on the groupons.

I've had a lot of friends have great success with priceline.com's name your own price tool; you can put in your desired location and star-rating and end up great deals.  We had friends stay at the Palmer House for $170 for 2 nights; pretty good!!

I haven't stayed at many hotels here, but my fav is Sofitel, which is in Gold Coast/few blocks off of Mich Ave.

My husband and I got married at Hyatt Regency Ohare. Its not exactly downtown, but its close enough for guests to travel too, a BEAUTIFUL hotel, without the downtown prices. ITs just the very outskirts. It was one of the best decisions we made, our guests kept talking about how gorgeous hotel was, the lobby,  rooms were really nice, beds were super comfortable, food was really good too. Definitely worth checking out!
