Modern Image & Windy City Mix djs......please help!!!

Please please please help me out here!  I am meeting with Windy City Mix dj entertainment this weekend and I am very nervous and dont know what I should be asking?  Can you ladies please let me know what I should be asking or let me know your experience with them?  I would Greatly appreciate it.  He sord of sounded too good to be true very nice and friendly, especially his prices!

Also, I am meeting with Modern Image Photography.  Can anyone again let me know what I should be looking for and asking these people about?  I know that their photos are amazing but just want to make sure I get everything covered!

I know exactly how you felt, I was the same way. 

I met with Windy City Mix actually yesterday and they were awesome.  The price is great and we booked them for our wedding next year 07/18/10

I usually always ask these questions:

Do you have a contract?

If something happens do you have a back up plan or DJ(photographer/videographer)?

When do you need the full amount paid?

What kind of attire would you be wearing? (depending on event)

What kind of equipment will you be using (DJ)?

Are you familiar with our venue? (Photo - do you have samples of pictures at that venue, etc.)

Also, my fiance and I met with Mondern Image in May of this year and we weren't that impress by them.  Mondern Image had good packages, but didn't catch our eye.  We actually the same day met with Essence Photography and we fell in love with them.  Don't get me wrong the packages are a little expensive but I rather waste a little more on pictures since those last a long time!!

I don't know anything about these two vendors but some good questions to ask are:

DJ
How early do you come to set up?
Do I get to pick my DJ or do you assign them?
Do I have to feed the DJ or do they feed themselves?
Will you coordinate with my photographer so they don't miss anything?

Photographer
Do I get the digital negatives?
Do I have complete rights of the photos?

Can you control/organize big groups of people quickly and efficiently?

As for the DJ's, I don't know anything about Windy City.  We are using Sounds Abound in Naperville.

Photog's... we met with Essence and really liked them.  Several of my girl friends used them for their weddings and all but one had a great experience. 
HOWEVER, we then went to Timothy Whaley (Lisle, & Schaumburg) and found that for just about the same price we got TWO photog's and a bunch of FREEBIES that weren't included in Essence's price.  Just a thought!

My sister used Windy City MIx, so did a good friend of mine and I will also be using Windy City Mix.  I have nothing but great things to say about them, they are very friendly, very knowledgable of the business and music.  The prices are fantastic too. 

And for photography we used Flowers of Paradise out of Chicago...so far they have been great with communicating with us and have awesome ideas about arrangements!

we booked modern image for our wedding and so far, they have been great with communication. we got a really good deal on our package since they were running a promotion at the time of our booking, that included some freebies, and since we are having a friday wedding, we got a discount for that as well (I love Friday discounts!!). my fiance and i were immediately impressed with modern's presentation and their work. we loved their pics the best out of the photogs we met, and i would definitely ask for Wes Craft. He is their top photog and we booked him immediately. His pics are amazing! The questions that CarmonSimons suggested are good to ask, as well as you want to make sure the personality of your photog matches yours and your fiance, since they will be a big part of your wedding day! Don't be afraid to bargain as well!!

I LOVE my pictures!!!!!!!!  We had Wes from MIS.  He was awesome!  I can not say enough good things about him.  But it also depends on what type of photography you like.  I like the more journalistic....not so portriat type.  Wes was perfect for us.  He did our engagment session last year and did our wedding this past October. 

I also like how everyone there is soooooo nice.  When I booked we started working with Kelly but then she moved to their new location downtown so I started working with Necia.  Both ladies are fabulous!!!  Also, we just went to MIS to order our album, proofs, and a few prints and they threw in so much stuff for us!  They threw in 2 blu-ray DVDs ($300) of our video, gave us 15% off a 20x30 canvas, $100 album cover upgrade, plus they gave us 15% things I added to our package before the wedding (overtime, montage, ect).  I think it's because we did get all the bells and whistles and upgraded a lot of stuff....plus had the most expensive video and photo package. 

I think I've talked enough.  I have not recieved our album or video yet but so far I have VERY pleased with MIS.  If you would like to see pics email me at bdklatt at yahoo dot com
