Planning a wedding for October

So my idea of a big wedding went out the door when my mom passed away.  I am now on track for something simple.  We are finding a justice of the peace to marry us at a specific location and then a couple days later have a reception.  My main problem right now is I want to take my mothers wedding dress and use it to create my own.  I am trying to find somewhere that can help me take the preserved dress without ruining it and making my own.  Any suggestions?

I used Mary Catomy and was very happy with her for wedding alterations but I know she has gotten very popular over the last year. Try contacting her and she might be sympathetic since your story of what you are doing is beautiful.

That's such a great way to pay tribute to your mom.

I know a custom dressmaker that is really good who does that sort of work on the side of her real job. Her name is Michal Lynn,  and she just made a gown with its own custom pattern from scratch for a bride who was getting married in France last week. She goes above and beyond without being asked. If you are interested, pm me and I can get her contact info for you.
