Still searching for the perfect dress

I'm gettting married on 12-31-2010.  The ceremony and reception will be in the same location.  Since it's NYE, our venue is VERY funky, and it's my 2nd marriage, I'm looking for the perfect non-tradional dress.  Something vinatge/retro is what I have in mind but I can't find any place to try anything like that on.  Any suggestions??

Thanks!

Try SilverMoon on North Ave in Bucktown / Wicker Park. They sell vintage wedding dresses.

BCBG Max Azria has quite a few ivory dresses in their line that might fit the bill. They sell online and in major department stores (e.g. Bloomingdale's)

If you want tea length, there are some cute vintagey ones at Priscilla of Boston, I think its the reverie line.

Stephanie James may also be worth I try. I tried on some cute tea length dresses at aisle style in Elmhurst.
  • Wedding Belles in Barrington sells used dresses on consignment that might be perfect.  I also recently heard about Dame Couture in Chicago that might be worth a shot.

I tried on a few Wtoo dresses that were bit fun/funky. It was a trunk show at Macy's so I"m not sure where you can find samples.

Definitely check out Dame Couture! I met with Holly (the owner and designer) when I first started my dress search and, though I ended up buying my dress elsewhere, I had a great experience there. Her styles are very unique, and she can also work with you to create a custom piece. She has lots of fabrics and embellishments to choose from and I felt the pricing was reasonable for a custom dress. The store is in Evanston. http://www.damecouture.com

Many of the styles by Jenny Yoo are also less traditional (she has both long and short dresses). I went to the boutique in River North to try on dresses and it was also a great expeirience. The dresses are reasonably priced and well-made. (Beautiful bridesmaid options too) http://www.jennyyoo.com

I saw this designer at the IndieWed show: Audie - http://www.audey.com/index.html
I think she showed mostly bridemaid dresses, but it looks like she does custom work too. Very cute vintage dresses with crinoline and fabric underlays.

If you are looking for vintage hair & makeup...
I also saw this vendor at IndieWed. They styled the models for the fashion show and they looked super cool: Hairspray Revolution - http://www.hairsprayrevolution.com/
And this salon was recommended by Dame Couture: Tigerlillie - http://www.tigerlilie.com/

Good luck and let us know what dress you pick!!

I actually went to Aisle Style today in Elmhurst and there was a Stephanie James trunk show & Stephaie was there!  I feel in love with two dresses, but couldn't make a decision!  I
