Do ask them for recommendations for your body type.  Do look at dresses that aren't stark white-white.  Do your makeup.  It will look fab when you take pics in "the one".  Do try on dresses you don't like on the hanger.  Do think about how you would feel wearing the dress for an entire day.  DO have so much fun and don't let it stress you out!! You have plenty of time :-)

Do not have one dress idea in mind,  and only stick to one track, one silhouette. Do not be afraid if you fall in love with the first or second dress you try on....but just so you don't psyche yourself out...if you think you are going to love the first dress you are going to try on....swap it out for 3rd or 4th!!

Have a blast and just enjoy it!  Take your time, and let us know how it goes!!

Absolutely wear the  proper undergarments---avoid thongs!!

Consider wearing your hair in a loose version of how you may wear it on that day.....in a pony or other "up" version if you think you will do an updo.....you may throw a veil or two on to get a "total" look....

If the shop allows, and you bring people with, have friends/relatives select ONE dress they can see you in.....

ABSOLUTELY try on many versions and visions.......the dress my daughter chose was VERY different from what she THOUGHT she wanted, and was a dress I would have passed over on the rack.  Consider the weight of the dress also.  Although my daughter tried on many dresses that looked fabulous, one of her deciding factors was how the dress FELT on her.

Eat a decent meal before you go----it takes a lot of stamina and energy to try these puppies on!  Stay within your price range.....accessories and alterations add up quickly!  Absolutely enjoy the time you do this with the people you bring----they are clearly the  dearest and closest to your heart!  Don't worry if you don't find something right away, and don't be afraid to buy something if you find it!!

Oh my gosh.. it is so much fun! Here is what I learned while dress shopping.  Nearly every single dress is pretty, even beautiful.  It can be overwhelming becuase I was literally looking at the racks saying.. I LIKE ALL OF THEM! haha but the way I chose mine was finding the dress I wouldn't change anything about.  Once I had dresses on, there would usually be one or two things I would change about them, whether it be the fabric, style, the way they fit me.  My dress was the third I tried on.  I waited a few weeks and tried on multiple other ones since I needed that type of confirmation for myself but it turned into comparing every single dress to the third.  Before I even purchased it I was calling it 'my dress.'  SO.. find the one that does give you that WOW.  I didn't cry since I'm not a cryer.. but my mom sure did, and my MOH and my one bridesmaid.  Make sure the dress has your name all over it so to speak.  It has to look like you! Good Luck!!
