Marriage Certificate

How long does it take to get this in Cook County? I called and talked to a person I don't think really knew and she said a month. Does that sound right? I don't want to go all the way down there and then they say, oh it isn't done yet. Also, it says online I have to pay an extra $13 to order online or over the phone, is that right? I think I'll just go down there, any tips? Do I go to the same place I got the license at?

I actually drove up to the one in Skokie, its right off the highway, and so much easier to get to, and park then the one downtown...  Mine was ready when I got home from my honeymoon, but my pastor mailed it in the day of the wedding too.

I went to the Daley Center location on Washington and Dearborn and was able to get the marriage certificate that day.  You have to go to Vital Records office located the downstairs level.  They have you fill out a brief form and then you get in line to talk to a clerk where you pay and they print your marriage certificate.  It took me about 15 minutes and I went around 11:45 am on a weekday.  HTH

Update for you all - went downtown today and it was recorded 3 days after the wedding, nice! Got my SS Card and DMV done!

My officiant sent all of the paperwork in and paid for us to get ours mailed to us.  We got it last Friday.  Steph - I don't know what your experience was like at the SS office, but I hope it wasn't like mine on Monday - an hour and a half!  But as it was later pointed out, it was a Monday and the first of the month.  DMV was 10 minutes though!

Yikes Cathy! I got it all done, certificate, SS, DMV in 2 hours, considering it was 3 diff buildings, it wasn't too bad. SS was definitely the longest. And some weridos! Like the guy hyperventilating and half crying while waiting, wtf?
