Alterations Recommendations

Hello, Columbus Knotties!I am getting married in MN, but, I'm currently living in Ohio. I was hoping some of you could recommend people for alterations here in the area, as I'm thinking it might be easier after all to do the alterations here. Thanks in advance for the advice!

although I raved a few posts down about how helpful Davids Bridal was, I will not be getting my alterations done there! my soon to be sister in law had her alterations done there, and the dress was so messed up she ended up buying a complete new dress! If I hadn't seen the dress before and after with my own eyes I wouldn't believe it! It looked like two completely different dresses! I got my dress there, when it comes in, if it needs alterations, I will not use Davids Bridal.

For those of you who have heard about bad experiences with David's Bridal -- could you elaborate a bit? My dress is from there so I assumed that they would be the best to work on it since they would be familiar with the dress but I don't want to do that if they have a bad reputation! Did they just botch the job? Do it poorly? Not do it at all? Any details would be appreciated. I will also look into these other recommendations!

Peg Hacker, I am getting the dress taken in 3 sizes  getting a bussle a hem and pads sewn in the dress for about 180 plus she is fixing all the loose stones along with a few snaps that were messed up.  She's done gowns for me before and is very reasonable.

Holly Easton is doing by dress.. she is very sweet and reasonably priced.  I was surprised at how little my alterations ended up costing!

My DIL and I both had our dresses altered at David's Bridal and both were done beautifully- no problems at all and in a timely manner.  In fact, hers was done before it was expected to be.

I highly recommend Karen Schott.  She used to own a bridal shop and has been doing this for 15+ years.  She is very experienced and only works with bridal gowns and formal wear.   HTH
