Where to put address on long envelopes?

Our invites are long rectangles with the flap on the short side. I can not for the life of me decide which side the flap should go. Anyone else do this shape envelope?

ohhhh I can help you here!!!Although it's way too early for me to have sent them out... I did attend a workshop at Archivers craft store on DIY invites. This topic was brought up!! It will actually cost you more to send it if you address it the "unusual way" (having the envelope tall) rather than wide (the normal way)The lady at Archivers said they must be hand postmarked if you do it the tall way, rather than shooting thru a machine. She said if you really wanted them to be addressed the "tall" way, see if you can ask the post office if you may hand stamp the postmark yourself(at the postoffice) to save money. I guess its not totally unheard of, since she recommended it!GL

That is all very good to know, thank you so much. So if you write the address out the (normal) long way, does the flap opening go on the left or the right if you are looking at the address?
