Advice, please!

We were planning a DW with a big reception at home for all our friends and family.  We have changed our plans and are getting married here.  Do you think it would be tacky/awkward to still have a beachy themed reception?  Thoughts...

Not at all - do want YOU want!  There is a lot you can do with a theme without going overboard too.  I wanted to incorporate sunset at the beach b/c thats where we were engaged so I did navy dresses with sunset color flowers.  But, there are also super cute centerpieces with little buckets and sand, you can give out flip flops - there are a ton of options, but I would not go crazy with the theme because it can get corny.  You'll also want to make sure it fits in wth your venue.

I think they are beautiful! I started planning a beach themed wedding then changed my mind. I pictured sand and shells and loose flowers on the tables. So, I bought a bunch of shells on sales while I was in FA brought them home. Let me know if you are interested, I will make you a good deal. =)   erin underscore joann at hotmail dot com.

Not at all.  I think people will appreciate the connection.  You could use really pretty ocean and beach colors.

People do that all the time! You can find some really cute things to do for a beach themed wedding.

My cousin did a beach themed reception (granted she did it all wrong, and uber tacky...) But, I think that if dont correctly, and not over board and all creepy beach feeling...then yes, I think it can be totally cute! Or you could even just focus on the simple colors of the "beach theme" and just add in cute little touches, like say shell place card holders, or something? You know, like not TOO overboard... :) HTHPlus, the colors of a beach wedding are to die for. They're gorgeous!
