Vendor Reviews part 1

Grand Valley Dale Ballroom: (Ceremony and Reception) A- I had heard lots of mixed reviews about the ballroom so I was a little nervous at first. I have no major complaints about the ballroom at all!! I think everything turned out beautifully and I can't imagine having it anywhere else. Dana was good to work with and was very up front about all of the charges. We were able to bring in our own caterer, but had to purchase on of their beverage packages. My only complaint about the beverages was that she made me distinguish between 1-11 year olds and 12-20 year olds and they were a seperate price even though they were all just drinking pop. However, the bar staff kept the line moving all night and everyone was pleased with the bar. The reason they got the A- was because it was pretty warm in the ballroom and they brought out these hideous fans to cool the place down. I guess at least they were proactive about the situation, however the fans were old and ugly :) PC Events Caterering: B- PC events was very accommodating (we were making decisions all the way up until 2 days before) to our needs, however there were just a few things that "bugged" me about them. I want to start out by saying that people LOVED the food, I even had people asking the chef for the recipe. They did a good job of getting people through the line and getting dinner done and over with. I would recommend them to others, their all inclusive package was a good deal. Now with the bad things, I had a floor plan that I made out with dana from the ballroom as far as where I wanted tables to go and such, and on the day of our wedding, the PC event person just changed them up because of space issues and didnt consult with me our my mom. This threw off our table numbers and confused a lot of people with their seating assignments. Second, two days before we paid for a second buffet line and a second carving station (over 200 dollars). The day of the wedding they decided there wasnt enough room so they didnt set it up and they still haven't contacted us about refunding our money. Lastly, they tried to throw in extra costs and if I hadn't been watching very carefully, they would have gotten quite a bit of extra money from us. Rocket Tree Photography- A++ Rachel is from Cincinnati and was worth every penny to have her travel up here!! I have only seen teasers from the wedding, but they are AMAZING. She made all of us feel at ease and was very easy to get along with. Everyone at the wedding was raving about how great she was--she set up a laptop during the reception with some of the pictures. She was very willing to stay an hour longer than we had originally payed for and I cant wait to see the rest of her work!! Flowers on Orchard Lane- A Jan was great to work with. We did all flowers, including floral centerpieces and everything was great. Jan was also very accommodating, considering I changed my mind on the centerpieces 3 days before the wedding. I thought the centerpieces looked amazing and I loved my bouquet. Variations Lighting- C- (gobo up lighting, monogram on floor, lights on stage) This was one of our BIG splurges and I'm sad that I have to give it such a low score, however I was really disappointed. Rick was great to work with at first, he quickly responded to emails and met with me right away. One week before the wedding, I could NOT get ahold of him and I started freaking out. My mom finally got ahold of him at 11:30 at night two nights before the wedding. The uplighting that was suppoed to be light pink ended up being dark pink and placed in the wrong spot. The monogram on the floor was too big and placed right where one of the tables was, so no one could see it. The only thing I liked was the lighting on the stage. :(
