Hi Girls!

Hi Everyone,
I am a new knottie, engaged to my wonderful BF of 9 years on 3/27.  I have been reading a lot of your posts in the past couple of weeks and posted once or twice, but I definitely wanted to say hello to you all.  This board has been so helpful; it actually helped me find my reception spot, hooray!

Now for my first big question, my wedding is June 25, 2011.  I have the church and reception booked so I feel good about that.  When should I start doing everything else?  Flowers, photographer, videographer, honeymoon, etc.   I want to make sure that I get the best people for the job so if that means booking this far out I will do it.  TIA!!

P.S.  The picture below is of our sweet Pug Vinny wearing the shirt FH proposed to me with; I just love how he did the whole thing:)!!

welcome!!! its such a great board and to this day I still lurk (though I rarely post anymore). I think the end of June must be very popular for weddings. They say its safe to book a year out, but with a month so popular, it can't hurt to look sooner if you truly want the best. Good luck!

I agree, you can't really book too soon unless you are unsure of a vendor or something. Plus then you can chill out for a while:)

    Welcome to the boards!

Yay! I'm new here too so I feel funny welcoming you but I am excited to have you as a Chicago bride AND a June 2011 bride! Hopefully we will be able to help each other out a bunch! :)

Your pug is adorable along with the way your FI asked you!

As far as planning, I think sooner is definitely better.  I have my ceremony site, photographer & officiant booked and am starting to work more on the rest!

I definitely agree with getting it done sooner rather than later - I had my ceremony and reception site, photographer, videographer, and DJ all booked by February for my May 2011 wedding! I'm so glad I got it done - it takes such worry away!

Welcome! Ditto on pp as well. The sooner you get things booked, the more of a lull you can have in between 7-4 months out (where I'm at now lol). That way you can figure out some of the small things you'd like (any DIY projects, extra services) without also being bogged down by booking vendors. HTH!
Love the pic of your Pug btw!

Congrats and welcome to the board. I had a long engagement myself and I found that getting all the major vendors in place early and taking long wedding planning breaks was great for stress management. I am way ahead of the game and these last few months for me are going to be a cake walk. That's a great advantage to having a long time to plan. We have just about everything done and will marry in September. I have some details to take care of, but have plenty of time.  I have not felt stressed during any part of the planning. I'm not too much of a perfectionist either, I don't expect perfection of myself, because at the end of the day, I'll be married to my prince and that is what I really am excited about.

Good luck and keep us posted on your plans.

Welcome to you both! I say plan as much as you want! I'm May 2011 and I've already had one photographer and one reception venue that I wanted booked!
