Reception Venue suggestions

Greetings all.... I'm new to the board and website (2 and a half weeks and I'm still cutting myself on the ring).  I'm looking for a few suggestions from soon-to-be-married and already-married regarding Downtown Chicago reception venues for a Fall 2011wedding.

All I have so far that are MUSTS is:
- In a hotel (we have several out-of-towners and want to make everything easy and centralized)
- Small space, pending guest list is under 100
- Budget/affordable (I'm staring a business and he's going to school)
- Ideally located near/close to ceremony, which will be at Old St. Patrick's (immediately west of the loop)

Also, I'm keeping in mind the sluggish economy and the lack of conventions coming to the city will work in our favor in order for the venue's desire to bring in business.

Looking forward to your thoughts and opinions!

We're using the Hyatt Regency Chicago on Wacker.  They've been very accommodating!

You should check out the Crowne Plaza on Halsted and Madison.  It is right across the bridge from Old St. Pat's.  The whole place is remodeled and the rooms are really nice.  They are also very reasonable.  HTH!!

BTW, welcome to the board and congrats!!

We booked Holiday Inn chicago mart plaza, defiantly affordable for a downtown hotel. River and downtown view, ceiling to floor windows, just went through a multi million dollar renovation. They have been great.

Great recos so far!  I'll be compiling a list with these most definitely, with the dream of The Drake in there as well.

Although the few along the river would rock as well.  Talk about a hot view!

If I decided to have a hotel wedding in the city I would choose the Intercontinental on Michigan avenue.  It's stunning.  Pricey, but stunning.

Anyone heard of Club Quarters?  There's two in Chicago, one on Adams and one on Wacker off Michigan.  The church we're shooting for (Old St. Pat's) suggested this hotel as they're designed for business, so they have "cheaper" weekend and holiday rates.  You can only access them by being a "member," but the church said if we have the ceremony with them, we can use the Club Quarters as a hotel point, even a reception venue.  Since it can accomodate events up to 200 (we have less than 100), I figured it could be interesting.

Anyone have experience with this spot?
