Congrats!!! There are really only two hotels that i know of in south maui that are reasonable...the Maui Coast in Kihei and the Hotel Wailea in Wailea.  Wailea also has the upscale Fairmount, Four Seasons, Grand Wailea and the Marriott is there as well.  Personally i think you get more bang for your buck when you stay at a condo...i use VRBO to search for units.  The Hotel Wailea offers suites with kitchenettes. HTH! J. :-)

We stayed at the Marriott in Wailea.  Their rack rates are obscene, but with a group discount, we got a very reasonable starting rate (well, reasonable for Wailea - only $10 more than the Makena Beach Resort group rate).  They also treated us fabulously...room upgrade, comp'd bridal suite for the wedding, and just really attentive service.

We had friends stay at the Days Inn in Kihei for $112 a night.  I think this is the lowest cost option in the area.  We also had friends at the Mana Kai Maui, which after taxes & fees was $175.  Other friends rented a 3br condo at the Grand Champions for about $350/night.

There's actually lots of lodging, just a matter of your budget / style.

We're staying at the Maui Beach & Golf Resort, and then a few of our family members are staying at the Maui Coast Hotel. We wanted to be really close to our ceremony site. We're also staying at 2 other hotels during our trip, post-wedding. :)

We are having our after party at Three's as well, but we are staying in a condo in Kihei.  There are amazing hotels in Wailea, but they are $$$...

We just got back from staying at the Maui Coast Hotel.  We loved it.  Great staff too.  I liked that they had a live band at the bar/pool every night.

We stayed at the Pineapple Inn for a week, which has the smaller inn feel that we were looking for, and loved it there.  We had family stay in the Koa Lagoon condo building, and they were happy with their condo - it's oceanfront, which is hard to come by in Kihei.  Also had friends stay in the Royal Mauian, and they raved about their condos - also oceanfront.

You can get reviews at the Maui Revealed website here - http://www.wizardpub.com/maui/mausouthmap.html

If you're at all on a budget, I definitely recommend going the independently owned condo route - it allows you to get more spacious units with kitchen and laundry (often oceanfront or with views) for less then you'll find at most resorts, and you have the freedom to cook/prep whatever meals you like so you can afford to eat at whatever nice places you like.

I am having my ceremony at Molokini Lookout as well.  My guests are staying at the Marriott Wailea during our wedding.  We are getting a good group rate and they will be comping some room nights for FI and I because we have over 100 room nights booked.

If you go with a condo, they vary greatly. So I'd recommend going through a company where you can see pictures of the actual condo you will be renting. My husband and I stayed at the Maui Kamaole and loved it, but we lucked out because our condo was really nice. Other family members stayed at the Maui Sunset Condos and Maui Coast Hotel and everyone liked those two places. One guest stayed at Hotel Wailea and loved that too. We stayed at the Four Seasons in Wailea for the wedding night and after and that was amazing! They treat you like royalty- but you pay for it. Enjoy!
