NWR: Harry Potter movie

Did those of you who were planning on seeing it this weekend see it?  I did, wanted to know your opinions.  But maybe without giving things away?  Or maybe we should just say **spoiler alert** now so ppl who haven't seen the movie won't read below.I liked it overall.  I enjoyed myself the time I was watching it.  But other than that, it was sort of ... meh.  No exhilaration for me or anything.I still think the 3rd movie by Alfonso Cuaron is my fave; he directed The Secret Garden too, and he's just awesome.

I've learned not to expect too much from the HP movies.  They're always kinda a let down just cause the books are so awesome and they always leave so much out in the movies.  I thought this movie added a heck of a lot more things than some of the other films, like the whole fire at the Weasley's, RANDOM.  But overall, i enjoyed myself, and am looking forward to the next two movies that make up book 7.

I enjoyed it, BUT I agree with both of you guys. There just isn't a chance for a movie to stand up to the book, but its still fun overall. I really, really REALLY just hope they do good with the last two movies they are making out of the last book.

yeah, that fire was random.  It was like I was following along in my head the storyline I knew from the book, and all of the sudden, veering away from the plot! What did you think of the romance stuff?  I was sort of hoping they spent more time on the harry/ginny romance. did you think the end was weird like that  - with ron just sitting there separate - in order to foreshadow what he gets upset about in the 7th book?

I liked the movie, but nothing really great happened...expect all the romances. I mean, this is just a set-up for the last movie, which I hope is going to be amazing, since its two movies. I actually havent read the 6th book in quite sometime, so I had forgotten what happened in the book versus the movie, so I have to go read it again...=). Im not sure how closely it followed the book, but I will know sooon!

I LOVED the movie!!!! But I'm really obsessed with everything Harry Potter so I'm really biased (we are getting married on Harry Potter's birthday! Definitely not the whole reason we picked the date, but when we got a a selection of dates we could pick from, that made July 31st stand out!) I thought it was the best movie so far though ditto pp - they didn't spend enough time on the Harry/Ginny romance.I saw it twice opening day (midnight release and that night) and that's what I plan to do the night before the wedding with my bridesmaids (since I'm not having any sort of traditional bachelorette party!) I can't wait! This is actually the first movie that the differences from the book didn't bother me which surprised me as usually I'm really picky and this is my favorite book (though Prisoner of Azkaban is probably tied...)

I like the movie.  But I thought they spent maybe a tad too much time on snogging and not enough on the plots.  They totally missed the fighting scenes with the death eaters at hogwarts at the end.  And way to little time on Half Blood Prince and how that ties in with everything.  The whole fire at the Burrows was weird.  Would have much prefered if they showed Sirius Black's house instead... I think if I didn't read the book at all, then I would have enjoyed it more.  I'm glad they're splitting the last book into 2 movies so they'll have more time to explain stuff.. there's a lot of material in that last book!

yeah, they totally took out the major battle at the end of good guys versus Death Eaters!  In the book, maybe I'm really naive, but the whole surprise about Snape was a surprise to me... felt really in suspense about what side he would end up in (sort of, though I did want to trust dumbledore)...  I think the movie was more obvious, or DH is too perceptive (he hasn't read the books), because he was like, obviously Snape isn't a bad guy and had to do what he did for a reason.
