I don't remember the exact hikes we did - we just kind of stopped when we felt like it (using Maui Revealed book as a reference) during the drive to Hana.We really enjoyed our boat trip with Trilogy.  We did the all day trip to Lanai but that have quite a few others to choose from as well.  The food was good (cinnamon rolls and juice for breakfast, wraps for lunch, chips and salsa snack, and bbq dinner), the boat wasn't crowded, you could BYOB (they keep it cold for you), and over on Lanai they provided snacks, snorkel gear, and beach games. If you just want to go out to Molokini I think Pacific Whale Foundation boats are nice - but big and crowded (I did that one a few trips ago with my sister).  My family went through Maui Dive Shop during the wedding trip and the 7 of us had a small boat to ourselves, that was pretty nice - but they didn't provide snacks or anything (maybe just water/soda? I don't remember).

We used Trilogy to go on a snorkel tour to Molokini.  It was lots of fun.  A lot of the snorkel places, you don't really need a tour.  Just get your stuff and drive there.  Haleakala is a must.  Even if you can't make it up for sun rise, it's still magnificient during the day.  If your FI enjoys driving, he'll love the drive up there.  My DH and our friend were really excited driving around those hair pin turns. We also loved the Hana highway.  There's lots to see.. I think it might be the only place in the world where you might actually be sick of waterfalls by the end of the trip :pThe blowhole is also pretty fun.

Snorkeling at Black Rock (in front of the Sheraton) is supposed to be the best! I think they have a rental place and guides on the beach...you could call The Sheraton and ask?

Rent your snorkel equipment from Snorkel Bob's! It's so much better than the stuff they provide on the boats - especially with the drainage pipe in the tubes. I enjoy just jumping in the water and snorkeling, rather than planning a trip.My favourite thing to do is kayak, so we're doing a kayak & snorkel trip with Maui Eco Tours. We went to the marine reserve near Slaughterhouse Bay in 2007, and I really preferred it to Molokini. Tons of sea turtles, eels, octopus (octopi?), interesting fish. Also, the highlight for us was going to the Olivine Pools. We had the place to ourselves, and it was just insane. Waves crashing against volcanic rocks while you sit in these pristine pools. AMAZING.

My favorite activites were: 1. Haleakala at sunrise, then biking down (Haleakala Bike Co.) 2. Horseback Riding and Ziplining (Piiholo Ranch....highly recommended!) 3. Complete Island Helicopter Your...amazing! (Blue Hawaiian Helicopters) I'm not a huge water person (I have some phobias), so these are awesome if you want to dry out for a day or two.

There are def some great hikes on the way up to Hana.  There's one we did on the west-side as well but I forgot where we went.  We did the molokini snorkeling trip & loved Trilogy as well!  Reviews in my bio!I agree with pp and that catching the sunrise over Haleakala is must-do!  We also biked down with Haleakala Bike Co and had a good experience.  We liked that you get to bike down at your own pace.  We're not avid bikers but we thought they had some pretty good mountain bikes (we biked down the Yukon Pass in Alaska and they had terrible bikes).Another thing you could consider that is a little more adventurous is to go ziplining!  We really enjoyed our tour with Skyine Eco-Adventure!  We did the Kaanapali tour but I know they also have one up near Haleakala.  (There's a company in Kapalua that has "bench-type" seating if sitting in a harness is not your thing.  search for them on you tube to get a better idea of what to expect from each company) There's also an ATV place up near Haleakala.  I remember seeing it on the way down (on our bikes)

I love it when I actually have answers (or ideas), so I'll respond too:1) Got out now (immediately!) and get Maui Revealed.  It's the best travel book, and everything we did that it recommended was a huge success.  It'll give you the best snorkel and hike recommendations.2) We took the Pacific Whale Foundation trip to Molokini and Lanai, which we loved.  It's a loooong boat trip (7 hrs!), so if you'd rather not be on a boat that long do the Molokini/Turtle Arches trip.  They were an excellent company (green!) and we'd go to them again in a heartbeat.3) Rent your snorkel gear for the week, and get the upgraded snorkel (the one that stops water from filling up all the way).  It was totally worth it.  We used Maui Dive Shop, and were really happy with them.4) Go to Hana!  We're going to try to spend a couple nights there when we go back for our wedding because it was amazing.  Just what I thought Hawaii would be like, and totally worth the driving.  Do it on a weekday, leave really early, and you'll be fine.  There's lots of hikes there for you to check out.Have a great time!  I can't wait to go back next year.  We just fell in love with Maui and all the outdoors adventures it offers.Carrie
