outdoor receptions advice

I know i have asked this before, and im sorry for asking again.. but what did you/plan on using or doing to prevent the place cards (with their names) from flying away? Our WC at Turtle Bay said that it gets really windy and that our place cards might fly away even with a tent. Any advice? suggestions? TIA!!!

Hey Kathleen! What do your place cards look like? If your napkins are folded on top of your plates...maybe you can stick them in there? Will you be placing your favors on top of the plates? Maybe you can put the names on top of your favor boxes? Sorry its early in the am and my brain is still non-functional!But, I do want to say that we will be getting married next year on the same day that you and your hubby will be celebrating your 1-year anniversary!! How exciting is that??!?

I can't believe you are only two weeks out. How are you feeling? I know you are going to make the most beautiful bride.

I'm tying mine to small white starfish and then placing them all in a box of sand. I've also seen people tie them to the bigger sugar starfish and put those on the napkins!

our reception was indoors, but I'm thinking it would have been easy to add the place cards in the folded napkin (where we had the menus), or make them be tags to hang on the champagne/water glasses (whatever will be at the place setting), or if you plan to have favors at each place setting they could be attached to them.  Otherwise, I always liked this picture - but didn't copy it - capiz shells used as place cards (tied with ribbon around the napkin).  Or maybe attach them to starfish? or use the small frames... all these options could get priceyI bet a tag on something that will already be at the place setting would work best/best easiest...  For example, look at the tags tied to the champagne glasses in my bio.

Here's a photo I took at lisakeiko's wedding.  She secured her cards to ribbon using double stick tape.  You could secure the ribbon to your table so the ribbon doesn't fly around, either.

We also did the ribbon idea with the cards attached with tape. The ribbon was then pinned to the tablecloth. It worked really well outdoors and it was slightly windy for us. We had our escort cards made, but I also saw some cute ones at paper source that you can make on your own. We bought butterfly placecard holders 'cause I thought that would solve the problem of them flying away... apparently it was pretty windy and the wind kept knocking them over so my WC just had to lay them all down flat!
