Hawaii

Interisland FLights

WE are going to Maui, Kauai, Oahu for our honeymoon in Sept-Oct. Is it a good idea to get these ahead of time on the internet? There is a site: ww. interislandflights.com

If you itinerary is pretty much set, I would book tickets.  If you want some flexibility or think plans might change, I think it is okay to wait.  I haven't heard of interislandflights.com -- I usually just book direct with the airline at hawaiianair.com.  Sometimes they have special rates ($39 one way), so if you see that advertised, I'd definitely book then!

I agree with pp on Hawaiian Airlines! Very reliable and at times you can get really good prices online.

Agree with the pp - I would book directly with the airlines. I don't think the online travel agency websites save any money from the actual airlines. I don't have the web address, but here are the ones that I use when I have to book interisland travel - you can just google to get directly to their websites 1. Hawaiian airlines 2. Go airlines 3. Mokulele airlines

I would recommend using Hawaiian for interisland.  I haven't used Mokulele before, but I have used Go.  The flight was fine, but Go charges for bags and Hawaiian doesn't when you are going interisland.  I'm not sure about 2 bags though, they might charge for the 2nd bag if you checked two...

yea we flew Hawaiian & it was $17 for the 2nd bag...plus extra charges for anything over 50lbs.  I was at 52lbs & they had me pulling things out.  But I think that is many airlines now.  No problems with the flight & we did book a little in advance directly through HawaiianAir's website

Definitely book directly with the airline, forget about interislandflights.com.  It's super easy to do online yourself and you'll get the best rates if you book directly with the airline. There are four inter-island airlines, my suggestion is that you check out each one to compare rates.  Since the flights are so short, my favorite inter-island airline is the least expensive one :)Hawaiian Airlines: hawaiianair.comIsland Airlines: islandair.comgo! Airlines: iflygo.comMokulele Airlines:  mokuleleairlines.comAlso, something to keep in mind that most inter-island flights stop-over on Oahu (say if you are going between Maui and Kauai).  You will find some non-stops but those flights are usually more expensive.  If you are looking to save some money, just do the stop-over.Good luck!

Little bit of advice.  When you are booking, try to find out what kind of plane you're taking.  If it says Jet than you're good.   FI and I unknowingly booked a 9 seater plane to maui last valentines weekend.  It was very hard on the tummy.
