Palm Fans

I'm looking at getting everyone a palm fan for the ceremony. I like the tiny ones which are about 6 inches wide. Everyone where I see them though they are used as an accent and not an actual fan. I don't want the large ones. Has anyone ever used one as an actual fan? Are they too small? Here is the link.http://www.blissweddingsmarket.com/store/000434.htm

It's quite common for brides to get a larger-sized fan and adhere their wedding programs to them.  Guests can use the fan to get information on the wedding ceremony and wedding party, as well as use them to shade themselves from the sun.

sorry to butt in on this post, but what do you girls think about having the flower girls hold a palm fan instead of flowers or dropping petals? i have 2 flower girls who are on the older side and i have a few palm fans that i would like to put to use. i thought it would actually be cute to have them hold a fan, but i've definitely gotten a few strange glances when i talk about the idea. what do you think? thanks for letting me butt in!!

We didn't attach our programs (actually, didn't have programs at all!), but we did use the larger fans. Most people used them more to shade their eyes from the sun than anything else. I never saw 6-inch fans....only really small ones or larger ones.

I was actually planning on using the smaller size and got some from a family friend but I ended up needing to buy the rest from Oriental Trading and they only had the larger ones.  A friend of mine used smaller ones but they were a different shape from the ones you are looking at.  Smaller, probably!  But it worked out fine as something to put the program on.  As an actual fan, it wasn't that useful. The smaller sized fans you are looking at work for fanning just fine though.  Less helpful for shading yourself :).HTH!Tiff

In my opinion (and it's just my opinion), the 6" ones might be too small.  I think that your guests will be very thankful if you provide them something to shade themselves with.  I bought sandalwood fans for half of my guests and DIY'd the other half.  In all my pics you see ppl using them for shade.  But if it really doesn't matter to you (I really just made/provided mine 'cause I thought they were just going to use them to fan themselves) then I say go for the smaller ones.  They're cute!Bo Bride:  That would be cute if you're flower girls used palm fans!  If you decide to wrap the handle with colored ribbon, maybe you could even have a few strands dangle from it and put one flower in it!  :) For my girls, I had them carry our leis for the lei exchange.  Another option I considered is for them to hold small parasols (you can find inexpensive ones in Chinatown)

We are using palm fans and I believe we got them from Bliss Wedding Market as well. I think we got the medium ones??? I just know they are bigger than 6 inches. All of them came the same size and in good condition, which isn't what I've heard from some other companies.
