Newbie - Looking for some Advice and Suggestions from the experienced

Hi Everyone! I'm newly engaged and new to The Knot! My fiance and I would like to get married on Maui in the Spring - April/May timeframe. I'm looking for locations to get married. We want something outdoors with either waterfall, beach, gardens around (or all!). We're looking at having no more than 15 people (immediate family only). And I think we'll probably look to having dinner at a restaurant (order off the menu) and then grab some drinks some where. Anyone have any suggestions? We're very open to ideas and just want it all to be very relaxed and enjoyable. Also... I'd like to get a dress that isn't extremely fancy/traditional. I imagine something that will be blowing effortlessly in the island winds. Any thoughts on designers to look at? Thanks so much!! pasiphae

Welcome to the boards! You know, the waterfall/beach/garden thing just struck me as a very Kauai thing. Is your heart set on Maui? When we were still looking at places I totally fell in love with this restaurant on Kauai. As for dresses - a lot of designers have destination lines. I love some of the stuff from Maggie Sottero's.

Welcome! I don't know a lot about Maui, but you may find the AllThingsMaui bio helpful: http://community.theknot.com/cs/ks/user/default.aspx?UserName=allthingsmaui

First of all, Congrats on your recent engagement! You're going to love this board!I would definitely check out the "All Things Maui" bio :http://www.theknot.com/co_profileview.htm?profilename=allthingsmaui&MsdVisit=1#estatesAnd also the "Hawaii Brides" bio (also helpful 'cause they list us brides alphabetically & by island):http://community.theknot.com/cs/ks/user/default.aspx?UserName=HawaiiBrides&m=1I would also check out peachmango's bio! I don't know how many guests she had but her wedding was on the beach in Lahaina (I think it was in front of Holy Innocent's Church???) and then her dinner reception at Pacific'O restaurant nearby. There's also a really gorgeous restaurant in Kapalua called Merriman's that I fell inlove with (I've got pictures in my bio). DT Fleming state beach is right next to it. I've also seen some pics where the couple get married on their property on the lava rocks! On the south side, you could probably get married at Makena Beach. There are so many nice restaurants in the Wailea/Makena area too.

Congratulations! Can't help you re:Maui...but the other ladies here already made great suggestions. For dresses:LilSwtAzyn - got a Gorgeous dress - customized from Milly's Bridal. If you have a tight budget, this may be a good option."Floating" dresses (i.e. Amsale's Bali (Malia - now on the Nest board was Airy and Dream-like), Christos, Watters / WTOO, Casablanca, David's Bridal) are made of chiffon and organza.Depending on the brand, if it does not have beading, Milly's sent her the pattern, then she "tweaked" it ...and <$400!Check out her posts regarding her dress.Good luck on your planning & welcome to the board.

Welcome to the boards! I'm not too familiar w/ maui had my honeymoon there and stayed at the Four Seasons I loved the hotel. I think it's awesome you're having an intimate wedding (that's my dream wedding) . There was this one area at the Four Seaons that I thought was gorgeous I only have two pictures and it only shows one side of the view. You see the beach and water which is under hard to describe. http://picasaweb.google.com/mgjreyes/View#There are two nice restaurants at the hotel. The other knotties definitely know much more bout Maui.As for dresses I'd suggest Watters and Watters for a flowly dress or even David's Bridal depending on your budget. Best of luck! Welcome

Yay for another Maui bride! Welcome! With what you want it sounds like the grounds of a hotel is the way to go. There are several options in both south maui and west maui. Another beautiful option with your size wedding could be Seawatch. There are several brides who have gotten married there. Good luck!

Hi and welcome! The Seawatch sounds like it would be great for you--there are lots of girls here that have gotten married there or are planning to--they can accommodate a variety of sizes and have some great ceremony spots. My dress is from JCrew--I love their line. I will have it tailored but other than that, simple as can be! :) GL!
