Places to Stay for Big Groups

I know I've asked a similar question to this before, but, I really would like (which I probably wont get) if for everyone who is coming (about 20) to be staying in the same area, so we are all together. Whether it be a house, bed and breakfast, inn, condos, ect. I am looking not to stay in a hotel, which I am probably going to have to, but I like a little more privacy. Anyways, does anyone have any suggestions on where to stay in Maui, on the South Shore, that is nice, affordable, and all 20 of us can kinda stay together and have more privacy? I've been looking around on the internet, but I thought maybe some of you guys would have more insight then me! TIA!

I don't want to discourage you, but I think you'll find this is actually hard to do on Maui.  The laws on Maui about renting have changed a lot over the past year, and many inns and b&bs have been hardest hit.  Plus, there's not that many inns and b&bs, and what there are are really small.  You may be best off going with a smaller hotel, instead, to fit everyone.  We were just trying to accommodate 11 including FI and I and we had a hard time.  Here's a link that I found helpful in narrowing down my options - the Frommer's Maui reviews.http://www.frommers.com/destinations/maui/15_indacc.html#

I think condos are the way to go. Even if you don't get a group to all stay in the same place, even the same area works well. Our group is all staying in Kahana (in 3-4 different places) and it's working out well.

That's what I figured I would have to do, I'm thinking condos are the way to go, so the different "families" can break off into their own condo.

You should look into condos in Kihei. I bet a place like Kamaole Sands or Maui Banyan would be great for you and your guests to just sort of "take over" and everyone rents their own condo so you have your privacy, but you are all in the same complex. I think for a group of 20, you definitely will be able to all be in the same place. This website has a whole bunch in South Maui. http://www.mauigoldcondos.com/HTH!

I've had really good luck with www.vrbo.com, vacation rentals by owner. Other people have reported getting a good group rate at the Marriott Wailea as well.

About 90% of our guests stayed at Kamaole Sands in Kihei. It was very close to Seawatch and Wailea.  Everyone booked their own condo at vrbo.com.  A lot of our friends shared condos and saved money that way (average cost was $140 for a 2 bedroom + loft).  They have a lot of units available for rent and we also threw our Welcome BBQ at the condo.
