Hawaii

Hair and Make-up question

So I was not planning on doing a hair and make-up trail. I thought it wouldn't make much sense. The lady doing my hair and make-up for the wedding lives in Kauai, I live in Colorado. But now I think I want to have one. Just so I can get an idea of what everything will look like on the wedding day. What are you doing? Are you doing a trial or just going to hope for the best the day of?

I am doing a trial!!  It is the one wedding detail that I literally have nightmares about.  So... we are getting into Hawaii almost a week before the wedding.  I am having my H&M trial on the Tuesday before and we get married on Sunday!!  I am so nervous having my hair done by someone that I've never met with before, even though she has been highly recommended!!

I think it varies with everyone.  We were going to Hawaii for a scouting trip anyway so I booked a H&M trial and in the end I was happy I did so I could have an idea of what everything would look like.  Some people did not have a trial and wished they had.  I think it's personal preference :-)  If you'll be in Hawaii a few days before your big day you could always schedule one in?  As long as you do it a few days before so you can make changes if you have to.  Good luck.

I did a trial and was glad I did!  I really had no clue so I left it up to Dorys.  I loved most of it, but requested some changes on the day-of, based on my trial.

Aloha,   Who is doing your hair on Kauai?  I am having Chrisitie (blue sky styling)  I am not having a trial but thats just because we only get to see our families once a year or less and I don't want to take any more time.  My girls are going to help me do a trial tho so we can give her a good idea of what I want.  Where are you getting married on Kauai?  We are at Hanalei Bay on the North Shore 09/09/09.Beth

I went to my regular hairstylist for a trial to get an idea of what will look good with my face.  I took pictures of the trial and showed it to my hairstylist in Maui, who was very good.  She knew exactly what I wanted from the photos and made it look even better.  I was very happy with the results.

Oh, good idea Ring!! I'll probably opt for the home trial with pics option, now that I'm thinking about that....

I too am doing the home trial.  I've already taked to my stylist and we will take pictures, make notes, etc. to make sure it's exactly what I want.

I am also doing a trial at home with my hairdresser and then going to take photos, I have no clue what I think would look good. This way I figured we can take a bit of time to get it right and then I can take photos..

Thanks everyone! I think I am going to do a hair trial and take pictures. I know that I want to see what looks good and what doesn't look good before the wedding day!

Thanks for posting this.  I am flying from Washington, DC, and was worried about taking the risk of not doing a trial for hair and makeup in Hawaii.  Now all I need are some good recommendations in DC ... off to the DC board ...
