Wedding ceremony and reception music??

What type of music are you having for your ceremony and reception... Guitarist, DJ, Ipod etc? And about how much is it costing? FI and I are getting married outside on a golf course along the ocean and honestly haven't even thought about music yet...I know I am such a procrastinator. YIKES! For the reception (in the Officers' Club) we are thinking about using an Ipod. We are not having a bridal party and are only having about 50-60 guests...do you think having Ipod music will be lame?? Do you have any suggestions? Please give me your honest opinions because I have no idea how much it costs for music. If I need to I could hire a couple of people I know who play Hawaiian music on ukuleles for maybe $300-400. Thanks ladies!!

I've been to weddings with Ipod music before and I think they are completely fine. My only suggestion would be to assign a friend or family member to monitor it so the two of you won't have to worry. (My brother actually did this for his wedding and it turned out great! He even had a friend act as "Emcee" for part of the reception and it was so much fun because he knew the two of them and made it much more personal!)For the ceremony, you may have to consider musicians or rent a sound system so you can hear the music over the ocean in the background.

are you just looking for background music, or music people can dance too, or hawaiian music, etc?We are using a solo guitar from the Big Island for the ceremony, cocktail hours, and part of dinner - 2 1/2 hours for $250+plane ticket ($86 RT).Then we have a little bit of ipod music and then a live band for dancing - 2 hours - really expensive. So there is definitely affordable music for the ceremony, and if you aren't having dancing, I think ipod music is totally fine.Ipod is also fine for the ceremony too - one way to make it seem not "lame" is to pick fun songs, or at least songs with words... i.e. canon in D on ipod is so-so... but like Chasing Cars could be a nice ceremony song and people won't really care that it's prerecorded music.

We are using a guitarist for the ceremony and still debating on the reception.  I would also like the guitarist for the reception but FI isn't so sure aobut it yet.

Thanks ladies. I feel better after reading your responses. Some of my friends don't really like the Ipod idea but I am a bride on a budget and I know that lots of couples have used an Ipod which turned out great.
