New to the boards - looking for Oahu info

Hi everyone,  Well, we've gone back & forth on whether we should get married in California or in Oahu.  I think we're both now leaning more & more towards Oahu.  It's been so hard to decide so I thought I would turn to the boards for some help.  If we were staying local, I was trying to keep it to 150 ppl, for my FI's sake.  He wants a smaller wedding and I'm also trying to spend around $10K - $15K.  I'm thinking that if we have it in Oahu, we still might have 75-100 ppl.  Is this budget realistic?  In my head I was thinking we would have a nice, casual wedding...on one of the beaches (maybe North shore), barefoot, my brother will perform the ceremony, and then we would have our reception, maybe in a nearby park or somewhere outside, eat some good food, dance some hula, and enjoy our family & friends.  Does this sound realistic and does anyone know where I could have this with our budget?  Our ceremony won't be a long one.  I love how all the chairs look set-up and decorated, but is that all really necessary for a 15 minute ceremony?  I go back & forth but that was one of my thoughts on how to save money.  The only problem is, that might be fine if I didn't have so many people.  I may have less if people just can't go, but I think at a minimum I would have 50-75 if some of my nieces & nephews don't go.  Any thoughts or suggestions on this would definitely be appreciated.  As you can all see, I'm a little lost.  Thanks :)

i think it's totally realistic! I'm originally from CA and FI is from Hawai'i, so we're having the wedding there on O'ahu. We're inviting about 180 and most of the people are local, but a week later we're having an at home reception in CA for people who can't make it out to Hawai'i. I think there was a regulation passed recently that you can't have structures (or chairs) on the beach, so I'd pass on that. People can definitely stand for 15 minutes for your ceremony! Your plan sounds good. There are a few people on this board who are doing beach/North Shore weddings so they should be able to help you out :)

I also love the idea of guests sitting on blankets on the beach!

Welcome to the Board!  Totally realistic and we're doing the standing on the beach thing too for abou 30 people.
