TTD dress advice

Anyone doing/did TTD?Did you or are you planning to use your original wedding dress or buy a separate dress?Since I'm crazy in love with my wedding dress, I fear I would probably damage it pretty badly with it when we do a TTD session. And FI is already weirded out by the thought of me "ruining" that special dress. After we do some scenic couple shots, we're heading up to the north shore to see if I can surf in a dress. I found (but haven't bought) another wedding dress for only $150 to keep the pictures fun, but it doesn't look anything like my dress. So I'm now torn... play in my own wedding dress or buy a play dress. What to do, what to do!? Any suggestions?TIAHere's my dressHere's the other dress

I think you should buy a play dress, especially if you love your actual dress.  The TTD doesn't have to look like the real one.  Surfing with a wedding dress sounds like an AWESOME idea!!!  Too fun!  I can't wait to see it :)

I TTD'ed in my actual wedding dress. It got REALLY filthy so I got it dry cleaned and preserved after the TTD and it really looks just like new to me. But isn't all lacy like yours...it's just satin all around with beading/detailing (I think some of it may have gotten loose or came off but it's repairable). So I think it really depends on the fabric/detailing of your dress...from the looks of it, maybe a dedicated TTD dress is better, esp if you're pretty attached to your actual dress =) GL and have fun!

I was also afraid to mess up my real wedding dress so I bought another dress to do the TTD shoot.  Water and sand in general won't hurt the dress too much.  But what might hurt is if you get snagged by rocks or something.. Since your dress is so lacy and intricate, there is a chance it could be damaged if it gets caught with something.  If the 2nd dress is not too expensive, I would definitely get a 2nd dress.  It doesn't have to look like the original at all :)

Wow that dress is beautiful.  I'd be too scared that something you couldn't repair might happen to it.  Is that  "other dress" in your post your potential TTD-dress?

I bought another dress that looks nothing like my wedding dress. We're doing our TTD session the day before the wedding so I couldn't very well use my wedding dress. I got my TTD dress on e-bay for 25.00. There's pics in my bio. I know some girls who used their actual dresses and they came out cleaner than they were after the wedding. It just depends on what you're comfortable with.

Thanks for the advice ladies... my dress might not like what we plan to do with it. On the east side of the island before you get to Sandy Beach, there's a lookout point with some great black rock that overlooks the ocean and we may have to do some "hiking" in it. Then it's off to the north shore for surfing in a dress (I'm sure it's going to weigh me down - thank goodness for straps). I better get moving to see if the 2nd dress is still available - it's a Casablanca sample sale (online).
