Wedding Planners in Maui & Their Rate

hi.  i've been talking to wedding planners in Maui and most of them charge 25% of the wedding budget, which is for what the wedding planner is coordinating directly. i am shocked how expensive it can get.  has anyone used Heather Kotok by Heather's Organic Weddings?  Any feedback would be appreciated.  Thank you!

I'm not actually using Heather as a wedding planner, but I'm having my wedding at Loulu Palm and I've been coordinating with her.  She's been really helpful and responds pretty quickly to emails.  I haven't heard back from her lately though, and neither has another girl on here, so she might be gone for a while.  But, everything so far has been positive, so if you have any questions, just let me know!

I haven't heard of Heather and her company. 25% is very high, my fee ended being somwhere around 10%-11%

I've seen them offer a package that usually involves day-of coordination, organizing the license, a beach permit if you need it, leis, maybe a bouquet, maybe some basic photos, for $500-1000, dependingon who you go with. Then they may charge 15% of the cost of anything extra you ask them to coordinate. I'll probably do a step up from a basic package that includes a step up from a basic photo package, and maybe add on some extras (hair, makeup, flowers, ceremony music). We're doing a beach wedding, and I hope to keep all this under $2000. I think it's doable

We got married in Maui last year and used Lori from Tropical Maui Weddings to do our coordination.  We got one of her packages which cost $850 at the time.  It included a bunch of stuff like minister, 2 leis, help in getting marriage license.  She also booked ceremony site, DJ, music, and other stuff for us.  She was also there on the day of the wedding to help set up both the ceremony and reception sites.  She will help you book anything you ask her to.  I loved working with her.

I also am going with Lori from Tropical Maui weddings, mostly due to the fact that she charges a flat fee rather than a percent. It makes me feel MUCH better going that route. 25% charge can add up very fast.

I am also using Lori and Tropical Maui Weddings and she is awesome!!  She is really good with communication and doesn't want to charge you an arm and a leg.  I haven't gotten my quote back from her yet, but she is on vaca right now.  When I do I'll be happy to pass it along.

I am using Lori as well and think she is so helpful and amazing! Heather was the 1st person I spoke to in regards to wedding planning and she seemed helpful on the phone and was very nice, but she never emailed me a quote as we discussed and never sent me any further emails.

I just came back from Maui scouting trip. I met a couple of wedding planners there including Lori.  She is very sweet and genuine.  I also like that she has a flat rate.  I think I am going with Lori!
