Wedding & Honeymoon Registry?

I posted this on the actual registry board but I dont know how many people use it, so I thought I might get more help here. So Brad and I have been living together for over a year now and dont need many things for our place, so Ive considered online sites like http://www.honeymoonwishes.com/ where we pick activities and the guests will buy it for us (like snorkeling, dinner at a nice restaurant etc.) Has anyone else used sites like this? What site and how did it work out for you? Thanks for the help girls! Maddie

Other posters on here have used these types of sites and will respond with helpful recommendations. Just a side note - please be sure to have at least one real wedding registry. Some guests don't want to give money in lieu of a present, and you should provide them with some direction on what you'd like as gifts, if they choose not to give money. Also, I've lived with FI for 1 1/2 yrs and before that on my own for 6 yrs. People must just buy nice stuff faster than me b/c we've got hand-me-downs galore with mismatched sets and chipped and worn out stuff that I CANNOT WAIT to replace with nice new matching sets of stuff. Obviously we don't need everything, but matching sets of: towels, linens, pots and pans, silverware, and dishes are things I dream about. :)

I'm one of those people who is kinda iffy about honeymoon registries - I don't know... they seem kinda grabby (I feel the same way about regular registries too - though my parents insisted I have one). But, to each their own.Ditto on upgrading stuff. We've been living together for 3 years and trading up was definitely awesome.

yeah, we will probably register at CB2 for more accessories and decorative items. His parents bought us brand new furniture and toiletries when we moved. I guess we can always use more bedding and towels. Now that I think about it, I have been wanting the Margaritaville, Ill have to put that on the list :)

My friend used Honeyfund and really liked it. I don't know much about it, but I don't think they charge to use their service. Not sure, though.

Hi Maddie,I personally haven't used them. But, my friend did for her wedding.  She used Honeyfund.com.  This website is a tool to keep track of parts of the trip the couple has registered for. As I understand it, you set up the trip components e.g. air, hotel, destination services, etc.  Guests can choose which trip component and how many to purchase. The money goes directly to the couple via - check or cash.  Once a purchase is made, the registry is updated.   I think it's a fabulous idea! Hope this helps!Ruth

honeyfund is amazing, we are currently using it and we love it. Many people who have used it to give us money like it as well, it's super user friendly, and we just asked for money no gifts and have had no issues. I think it's a personal choice! especially since most of the people who are invited live 1300 miles from where we live.

We had a small traditional registry and a honeyfund.  Guests used both.Honeyfund worked fine, but I don't think anyone used the paypal option, people just wrote checks.

We will do a regular small registry and honeymoonwishes.com.  I've has 2 different friends who have used honeymoonwishes and loved them.  The pay out program is really easy.  I also like the idea of giving guests options.  Obviously all we really want is their appearance at our wedding.
