About how many guests are you planning for for your beach wedding? We really want to get married on the beach, so I'm committed to not renting a ceremony venue, but I'm starting to get worried about our numbers (we'll probably have ~30 guests). I know the rules about beach weddings including that chairs aren't ok, and we'll need to make sure there's room for parking, but I just wonder if you've run across any issues with doing a beach wedding that have come up just because of the size of your group. Thanks!

I have had no trouble at all. Our final numbers are 27. So that is pretty close to yours, and if we included the phtog and officiant and stuff we would be at 30. I was honest with our WC from the beginning and he said that he would get the permit for the right amount of people, I had to pay a higher price for this but not by much. You are right chairs aren't allowed but my WC said that if we had someone who is handicapped or needed a chair we could do one no problem. He has been really great about being upfront with all the woes that can come from having that many people at a beach ceremony. What beach are you thinking about? I chose a really popular one (not planned) so our WC said there might be people watching or looking but I have no problems with that!!! As for parking, our hotel is right across the street so there is no need for parking for us, but that is something good to keep in ou are traveling to the beach! Honestly it has really been the least of my concerns, so I hope that eases your concerns, let me know if you have nay more questions I can help you with!!!

This helps a lot - thanks!  We're thinking about Po'Olenalena beach.  My cousin got married there a couple years ago, and his wife said there's a pretty good amount of parking but it's still a less travelled beach (for south Maui).  I'm sure, though, that there will be ppl on the beach, and I'm fine with that. It's really reassuring to hear from another bride planning a big(ish) beach wedding.  It seems like all the pics I see of girls with over 20 guests are at Olowalu, and we 1) absolutely want a beach wedding, and 2) don't have money in the budget for a site fee.I'd love to see your pics and reviews of your condo selections when you get back!

Yea we felt the same way, we are not going traditional and trying to stay away from traditional wedding for the Hawaii thing at least. When we get home we will have an AHR, that will be more traditional. We most definitley wanted toes in the sand wedding and we didn't have a ton of money for a site, or renting tables and chairs, and linens, and centerpieces. So we are doing a beach wedding then a Lu'au for the reception, easy peesy!!! I will definitley post reviews and pics!!!
