When does the lei exchange happen?

Hi All! I am trying to put together my wedding program! We plan on doing a lei exchange between the two of us during our ceremony, as well as present each of our parents with leis. My question is - when should this take place? Right after my father gives me away? before/ after our vows? before / after rings? does it matter? TIA!

We did ours right after I walked down the aisle and our priest had done the greetings.

We did ours after my stepfather gave me away but before the actual vows.

Have you selected an officiant yet?  Often they have a time during the ceremony they usually do it.   We didn't include a lei exchange but if we had, Rev Tino had the option included in his ceremony. (I just checked his ceremony and he would do it after he has done the welcome).

We also did ours in the beginning of the ceremony, right after my father gave me away.  If you have choosen your officiant, I would ask him/her for a copy of the ceremony for your program.  Our officiant, Kahu Silva provided me with the outline of our ceremony and we used that for our programs.

Thanks so much for all the responses. We're having a friend marry us so I don't have an "experienced" officiant to ask so you all have been very helpful! Thanks again!

Hi,Our Kahu states that as soon as everyone is at the "alter" - the lei exchange to the parents/families occurs, then to the bride and groom, and then the rest of the ceremony happens.Don't think there is a wrong or a right way - but it seems like it occurs in the beginning.Hope this helps.
