Wedding Events Ideas

Hi Ladies.  I am planning a wedding in Maui from San Francisco.  While we are very excited to finally narrow down the venue, we are a bit overwhelmed.  We would like to host a group activity, welcome dinner and post-wedding brunch for about 50 geusts.  Could anyone suggest good ideas? Here are our budget: Group activity:  $25 per person Welcome dinner:  $50 per person Brunch:  $30 per person   Thank you!!!

Hmm If you drop the brunch you should be able to negotiate a group rate for a LUAU.I am not a Maui bride. I was able to call around and get 27 people in at $50.00 pp and the kids in for free. I think with 50 people you will get a good deal!

Have you considered doing a BBQ as a welcome dinner?  We did that at the condo we were staying at and it worked out great.  Very casual and affordable.  It was a great way for our guests to mingle and get to know each other before the wedding.  For a day after brunch, we went to Rusty Harpoon.  They charged us about 20 bux a person.  It included family style appetizers and one entree per person.  We covered drinks for our guests too and that was on top of the 20 bux per person.  As for activity... was there a particular event that you think your guests would like?  What time of the year is it?  Maybe you can do a whale watching tour if it's in the winter.. though it might be slightly above the $25 per person budget.

May is too late for whale watching.. We had 40 people at the BBQ.  If your condo doesn't allow so many people, you can always do it at a beach park.  Some of them have grills available

Ditto on the welcome BBQ! The guests loved how chilled out our event was and it was definitely way cheaper than 50$ p/p!

We're planning a welcome bbq of sorts as well...we plan to have the event outside in one of the condos or at a beach...we'll hire Da Kitchen to cater...it's a good way to get our people in the aloha spirit.  For brunch still not sure...may purchase platters from costco or see if there is a way for a catering company to make breaskfast type food for under $15 pp...want to keep costs low for these events so we can concentrate on the wedding. I'm no help with Maui vendors, but I wanted to say hello. We're date twins--I'm getting married May 1st on Oahu.

Hi!  If you choose to do a Welcome BBQ, I would highly recommend having Da Kitchen cater and hosting the BBQ at Kahekili Beach.  They have a covered gazebo that's perfect for a Welcome BBQ.   The only thing is that the gazebo is first come first served so you may want to ask someone to get there pretty early to hold the spot for you.  I'll try to add the pics of the gazebo to my bio later tonight or tomorrow. We held our rehearsal dinner at The Maui Brewing Co.  It's a really laid back place but the food was good and pretty inexpensive.  The manger, Dax, was great in helping us stick to our budget.Reviews of both venues in my bio.
