Ceremony / Wedding Planner

Hello everyone, I'm very new here and I need some help :)My fiance and I are eloping to Maui in July 2010.  I'm trying to figure out if it's necessary to hire a wedding planner.  When checking out the Hawaii information site it says you have to have a permit to do a beach ceremony with insurance.  Do we the couple need the insurance or does the minister that we hire need it?  I guess I don't understand if we can skip the wedding planner companies and just do it ourselves or if we really do need them to take care of the permit issue.  All we want to do is walk down to the beach, have a traditional Hawaiian ceremony, take some pictures and then go eat some good food and have some yummy drinks :)  Any advice would be so appreciated!

You don't need a coordinator to book all that stuff. Not necessary!

You don't need a wedding planner to get the beach permit, marriage license, photogrphar, officiant, and insurance - but it may make it easier.  There are lots of very affordable wedding planners who can put together a cost-effective small beach wedding with those elements for you.

You don't need a WC but most offer basic packages that inlcude flowers/officant fee/photographer...so it may be worthwhile to look at a few.  The positive is that you don't need to coordinate/book each vendor yourself and a destination wedding no matter how small or large still requires a good amount of coordination.  You should talk with Tiffani on this board as she is having a beach wedding next month and is a wealth of information.  J. :-)

I think you got your answers above, but I am just jumping in to welcome you to the board! I've been MIA for awhile so I don't think I've formally said that yet. We're glad you're here!

I used Aekai Beach Weddings and LOVED everything about it.  They took care of everything but the license (because you have to apply for that yourself).  My husband and I couldn't have been happier.  Our photos turned out amazing and the flowers were EXACTLY what I wanted. http://hawaiiwedding.net/
