STDs and Invitations, what to do???

We like that idea of: passport, boarding pass and luggage tags. We are not sure wich on to send out first as the STD; btw all of it is going to be a DIY project. 1. I was thinking boarding pass as STD and passport as invites. That didn't make sense because you get your boarding pass before you board the plane when traveling. 2. Then I figured, passport as STD and boarding pass as invite. I think its going to be a waste of paper to do the STDs like that, and plus i kind of like the idea of the invite in passport, it looks cooler. And plus, won't it be easier to loose the boarding as an invite, its so thin? 3. And now I'm thinking of doing the STD with the luggage tag and the invites in passport with a boarding pass inside. But now, what will be writen on the boarding in the passport has all the informations? So anyone who use one or all of these ideas, how did you figure out what would be what. Anyone who hasn't what do you think will be best?? NB: Does anyone know where I can find templates for the boarding pass and passports?

I think that's a lot of paper and DIY madness. Be careful about starting all those projects, they may reduce you to insanity (as my invites did). I think function has to come first, and that it makes more sense to do the STDs in the boarding card form because the passports can hold more info about places to stay, eat, activities, etc. Aylee designs has a template for the boarding pass, and I'm not sure if the passport one has a template. All the girls I've seen do it have done it from scratch. You could always inquire over on the Destination Weddings board.

Hi! I'm doing the boarding pass for my STD and probably just a formal invitation for the invites.  Here is the website that will help you with both the boarding pass and passport http://www.ayleebits.com/tag/template/

I did our Save the Dates as a boarding pass and they turned out so cute! I echo what Kaesha said though, be careful before you take on all those projects. The boarding passes took a TON of time and effort.  I was going to do passports for my guest welcome bags, but I think it's going to be too much work. You can check out how mine turned out under the DIY section in my bio. I'm happy to help you with yours, I know they were a headache for me because I wasn't good at using the Word template from Alyee Bits.

It really depends on how much information you have. I used passports as our STD, but we filled it with pertinent travel information (which airport to fly into, hotel suggestions, what to bring, what to see, etc.). AmyinSydney also used them as her STDs. eyeheartmike used hers as her welcome letter for her OOT bags. Her passport pages included her wedding day time line, information about optional activities she had planned for her guests, a section where the guest could write notes and their trip highlights, and she had a map listing where all her guests were staying. No template that I know of though, we all made ours from scratch. Like pp said, Aylee Designs has a great boarding pass template (pretty much everyone uses): http://www.ayleebits.com/2006/06/10/diy-boarding-pass-save-the-date/To me, it makes sense to recieve a passport before recieving a boarding pass, but if you don't have enough information to fill a passport (or the time! They are very time consuming!!) I don't think it'll really matter in the end what they do or dont recieve (or in what order). They will probably just be in awe of the gorgeous paper stuff to begin with. :o) I do think the luggage tag would be a cute STD though, especially if your STD is pretty much just the wedding date. If you're content on using all three ideas, maybe you could do the luggage tag as the STD, the passport as the invite (with additional travel info), and use the boarding pass as a welcome letter (with event info) for when guests are in Hawaii.

It sounds like you're planning a lot of stuff. We did boarding passes as STDs.  For invites, we did a pocketfold with inserts.  We used luggage tags as the escort cards.  I think Lori (Married2MrWright) has a boarding pass template.  If not, page me and I can email it to you.
