Wrong dress or wrong venue??!!?

I picked up my dress yesterday and i'm a bit confused.  I didn't think the dress was too formal when I bought it, but after looking at it and looking at it, I think it's too formal!! People keep saying..."you can never be too formal at your wedding!" uhh...unless you're getting married outdoors underneath some palm trees!! hmmmm...it's champagne and lace and it's beautiful...but i don't think it fits my venue! it's something that would go if i got married at the iolani palace though...help!! can i really make lace work at lani??

i don't think it's too formal! i was considering a lace one (in the very beginning). i think it'll be fine which caterers are you going with? and what type of food/plates/etc will you have? (ours is more casual laid back - disposable plates/cutlery, local hawaiian style food ... so i went with a more 'casual' dress)

OMG! I have the same issue! I got a really fancy lace dress.. and i freaked out about it because I always imagined it being much less fancy. ( I got mine at the running of the brides). But you know what.. .. I really think dresses should be whatever you like. What dress is it? Can we see a photo?

I think your dress is great and will be perfect at lani.  I am getting married there and also got lace.  Everyone keeps telling me, "the beauty of being the bride is you get to do what you want!"  The dress is gorgeous on you!

Your dress is amazingly beautiful and would be perfect for any venue! Because it is so fitted I think it can definately fall into the beachy category. It's perfect! Stop over-thinking it so much (although I am very guilty of that as well. Easier said that done.)

hi hi hi pp are right. there's no such thing as too formal bride for a wedding... no matter wear. as long as you feel good you will be fine. lani is gorgeous. in fact, one of my fav dresses from 08 was msmoore's gorgeous wedding dress and she got married on the beach up in north shore i think... her dress was totally formal and it looked awesome just think what amazing pictures you will have at a beautiful venue as a beautiful bride

I dont think it is to formal I think it is perfect, I love it.. I agree with the other girls a dress should be what you feel comfortable in..

Thank you everyone for your input!! You all are seriously the best knotties EVER!! I love my dress and if there was something that had to be changed...it would have been the venue!! Thank you so much for talking me out of that decision!

Your dress is absolutely amazing and I also am one of those brides that thinks you should were what you love no matter where you are getting married.  I am also leaning more towards a fancier dress even though a few of my bridesmaids have said isn't it too fancy for the beach! Well no its not, cause its your one day you want to make everyone go WOW!  That is the first thing that came to mine when I looked at your picture of you in your dress. Its amazing and I wouldn't change a thing!  Enjoy your Moment to WOW!!

Yeah.  I definitely agree.  Right dress, right venue.  Brides never look too formal.  And there's just something really fun and beautiful about a bride in an amazing dress in a tropical setting.  You look amazing in your dress!  You'll totally work it.
