Marriage License...How Long??

This is more so a question for the married Knotties out there...How long did it take you to get you Hawaii marriage license? I am hearing all these bad stories about how slow the Hawaiian government is in getting them to you (even if you rush it). I sent in the form and paid to have them rushed, but I am worried they will take forever (and that’s a bigger problem for me because of our move to Australia and all the changes I have to make before I can apply for my visa, etc.) Any time lines on when you got yours would be fab!!

We got married on September 21, Mailed our rush form in on Oct 2nd and got our license on Oct. 14th. HTHBy the way your wedding was so beautiful, Congratulations!

i was able to apply for the rush copy online. when i called the office they were able to walk me through and give me the website. i had it a week after i rushed ordered it online. sorry i cannot for the life of me rememeber the website or i would pass it onto you but you can call the records number and they can help you. my actual unrushed license came at the end of september so about 2 month.

I didn't rush it - they said it would take 120 days, and it actually took 60!

Kelsey, thanks for asking. I rushed ours and it's been 5 weeks and nothing yet I guess I'll keep stalking our mailman.

We did not put the rush in. I am still waiting as well and we got married on 9/26.

I got married on October 5th, mailed out my rush form on October 19th and I just received the marriage license on November 5th.

We didn't rush ours and we got it within 7 weeks.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for the Dept of Health's turnaround times, regardless of whether or not you've expedited.I waited about 5 or 6 weeks.  We got antsy because I needed proof of our marriage to change some of my employer benefits.  DH went down to the DoH and paid extra money for an additional ("expedited") copy.  They printed it out for him on the spot.  The next day, our non-expedited copy arrived in the mail.  :PBTW, just to clarify, the document you're waiting for is the Marriage Certificate.  The Marriage License is the document you applied for prior to getting married.I'm not sure if this will have any impact, but I know that many state agencies are cutting back their hours/days due to "Furlough Fridays".  This could also pose a problem for brides who happen to try to apply for their marriage licenses on a Friday.

Thanks Mrs.Nicole for clarifying about the marriage license (vs. certificate).  I read this and got really scared.  If my wedding is on a Monday, should I get to the Marriage License Office on Thursday, just in case it's closed on Friday?  I will have to travel (and pay!) for the extra day before the wedding.

Mine took about 60 days and I did not rush it. It did make me nervous waiting that long though
