PSA: Marriage License & Furlough Info!

Hi Ladies!  I haven't been on in a while so I'm not sure if this has been posted already.The Hawaii State Department of Health will be closed on "Furlough Fridays".  Please be sure to check the "Department of Health Furlough Calendar" at the bottom of the linked page and plan accordingly.  I would hate for a bride to show up on the DoH's doorstep only to find the office closed.An alternative to consider is meeting with a marriage license agent if you won't be able to make it to the DoH during their normal business hours or on a non-furlough day.  I actually went this route and met with a marriage license agent because DH was working some crazy shifts at his job.  There's a phone number you can call to get marriage license agent info at the bottom of the linked page.  At the time I got married, it was $5 more to go this route, but I think it's worth it.  :)HTH & GL![url]http://hawaii.gov/health/vital-records/vital-records/marriage/index.html[/url]

Yep this is what we are doing, and it is still $5 more, but worth it for us since Fri is the only day we can do it!

Thanks for posting this.  My wedding is in Aug, the calendar doesn't go that far ahead yet, so I'm not sure of any complications.  How early should I be applying for the license?

ohh this is so helpful! thanks!! we just booked our tickets home for the wedding, and we booked 1 day earlier for FI so we could actually go to DoH and get a marriage license (I had no idea when furlough Fridays were or would end)thanks again!!!

You can print the document (application) for your marriage license straight from the website. You just fill it out and then our agent (Cynthia Wolfe) had me fax it to her today since we have our apt on friday. I know that if you are using an agent they help you through it all and make sure the paperwork is done correctly. It does cost $5 more like I mentioned above but well worth it if Friday is the only day you can get there. Licensen website: http://hawaii.gov/health/vital-records/vital-records/marriage/index.html
