Hawaii

August, September or October

Hey everyone...I'm a little concerned after reading another post where someone stated that September is the hottest month in Hawaii.  If so, how much hotter is it then say July or August? Originally we were going to get married in May but changed it to September as fall is a nice time of year where we live so if we are unable to travel on our anniversary at least we would still be able to enjoy nice weather at home.  Our day is September 21 so it's towards the end of the month.  Should we push up our wedding by a month or push it back by a month?  Any and all comments are greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Julienne

Gosh, I cannot help you on the Septemer or August months, but we got married at Olowalu on October 17th, and the weather was perfect. The whole time we were there is was hot, but not scroching and we had no rain (lucky us!). The nights were perfect, one night I even needed a pashmina :) For us it was the best weather, not too hot, but not yet rainy season. I am sure other Knotties can pipe in about the other two months so you can better decide :)

Are you inviting anyone who has school aged children?   If so, the odds of them coming to a Sept or Oct wedding will be slim as the kids are in school. The drawback to a Aug wedding is airfares will be a bit higher because kids are out of school...The temps in Hawaii are pretty constant year round. I wouldn't worry.

We got married on September 21, in Kauai and the weather was great. It was warm but not to bad, my DH said he was starting to get hot while we were taking pictures around 4 pm, but he was in a black suit. By the evening it was nice an cool. As far as rain goes, it could rain at any time but usually only for a few minutes. HTH!

I posted before about September being hotter. This was based on my sister who lives in Honolulu. If your wedding is late afternoon, it may be cooler by then. Kelsey is right that October is a good month if that works in your scheduleThe link above states:September – The weather continues to be very warm, the height of summer here in the tropics. Some of the highest temperature readings of the season occur in this month. Tropical Storms and Hurricanes rarely enter Hawaiian waters, but this is the month when they come the closest and are more apt to affect the weather on Maui. Normally they stay far away, but when they get close enough to the island, they make the residents uncomfortable with the muggy atmosphere they produce. Hurricane Iniki entered into the adjacent waters, and impacted the island of Kauai in September

Thank you ladies for your input...much appreciated!!!  I think we will stick with our date since we are towards the end of September and our ceremony will be starting at 4:30 so hopefully the weather will start cooling down just a bit by then.  The only day in October that would work would be the 5th and that's really only two weeks later.  Thanks again! J. :-)
