Olowalu brides.. wind?

Hi Kaesha, Kelsey and others,I was talking to John from Celebrations yesterday, and he discouraged me from using petals on the aisle, placecards and menus, etc due to the windiness of Olowalu. What was your experience? Thanks!!Karen

Hi Karen! My WC told me the same thing regarding the wind, but I actually lucked out and it wasn't an issue for me. However, I still did use petals down the aisle, but menues and place cards I did have a weight on just in case (which was my favor boxes), HTH!

We taped our name cards to the table so they didn't fly away. It was pretty windy earlier in the day - my cranes were flying around like crazy. Definitely petals on the walkway wouldn't work for me. I kinda think it's luck of the draw!

We had petals on our aisle and they didnt move an inch. I think they are too low to the ground to be a problem. For place cards, we used dried starfish and ties the name cards to those so the wouldnt blow away...function and cuteness all in one! We didnt use menus though :)

I also got lucky with the wind, but definitely plan for it to be windy just in case.  Our menus were folded in our (heavy) napkins so they wouldn't go anywhere, and our name cards were tied to little drink umbrellas stuck in a box of sand.  My WC didn't put out the napkins or flower petals until right before show time.

I plan on using heavier placecards, like an object of some sort because I've heard the same thing about paper products. We really aren't doing menus other than a drink menu which we are putting in a frame. I guess I never really thought about the flower petals. Maybe you could have them spread just prior to the ceremony to decrease the time they spend loose on the ground.

Thanks girls, you are the best!!Beth, I was thinking of trying to come up with something heavy.. We are doing long tables in a straight U shape so I need to put them at their places. Hopefully with 46 this will work!
